Hardware & Location
Recording must be done using the external, USB conference cam, and not a built-in laptop cam
for consistency in video quality. This camera must be booked in advance using the Outlook
shared calendar CPT Conference Cam.
Voice must be recorded using the Logitech desktop microphone to ensure consistency in voice
quality.
Lighting and a neutral backdrop are crucial elements in video recording. The following meeting
rooms provide sufficient natural light, as well as a white/cream wall to use as a backdrop:
 Enterprise
 Columbia
 Everest

Recording
Screen Resolution
Before starting the recording, the PC/Laptop screen resolution needs to be adjusted to ensure
optimal output in the final product. The screen resolution needs to be set at 1024x768
In Camtasia Studio, open the Camtasia Recorder in the Tools menu from the Studio Tools
selections.
26 June 2014 3
In the Select Area section, select Custom and ensure that you unlock the aspect ratio by clicking
the chain icon next to the dimensions.
A grid will appear indicating the area of the screen to be recorded. Drag the outline of the grid
to cover the full screen, but to cut off the windows menu bar.
Standard Intro/Outro
Every video tutorial will begin and end the same.
The standard intro is the following:
Hi, I’m………………..
In this tutorial I’ll be taking you through……………………
The standard outro is the following:
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial.
Please refer to our other tutorials for more information on the different features of this
product.

Editing
Marketing will design opening and closing slides for each of the various products as required.
1. Once the project is open in Camtasia Studio, set the editing canvas dimensions. You
will most likely be working with the Original recording dimensions, but may want to
edit the canvas to 1024x768 if the original dimensions do not display properly.
2. Display the opening slide for 3 seconds before fading to the video intro.
3. For the introduction and when the facilitator is giving information without
demonstrating anything, the video size should be set at 50% and centred.
4. When the facilitator is busy demonstrating, the video should be sized to 25% in the
bottom, right corner of the screen.
26 June 2014 5
