• Current Continuing Resolution (CR) in place through 9 December
2016
• Republicans favor splitting omnibus budget bill to minibuses
• FY17 National Defense Authorization Act tracked to pass before
Christmas recess
• All signs indicate a new CR to extend to 3/15/17 to coincide with
with Debt Limit Rules for next Congress to deal with
• 1 SCOTUS position open; will be held for Trump to fill

• Corp tax rate down to 15% from 35%; should spark significant
growth and investment according to administration

Employment Laws
• No increase to Minimum Wage (Gov Con under Exec Order)
• Reverse the new FLSA provisions (Change in Exempt/NonExempt)
• No support for pay equity laws
• FMLA – change to 6 weeks paid maternity leave, no paternity
leave
• Repeal of sick laws that are effective Jan 1 for Gov Cons
• Goal is to unwind all Executive Orders issued by Obama

Defense Spending
• Fundamental belief that defense is most legitimate form of
spending to stimulate economy
• Increase 90,000 Army soldiers
• Grow to 350 ship Navy
• Add 100 fighters
• Increase missile defense and reduce nuclear firepower
• Budgets estimates are to double Budget Control Act year over year
at 5% increases per annum
