1. Points System Bylaw Explanation (Similar to the one on Metro under the Programs
Manual)
I. Purpose and Intent
The intended purpose for installing a positive point system in Delta Zeta
Kappa Psi is to maintain acceptable participation amongst all chapter
members. The guidelines set out in the point system will entail incentives
and rewards for attending the determined percentage of events each
month. By focusing on positive reinforcement for chapter involvement,
we will eliminate the need for negative enforcement, such as fines.
Under this system no events will be considered mandatory. Members
have the responsibility to look over the points, and decide for themselves,
which they wish to attend in order to reach their point percentage. The
overall goal of implementing the system is to maintain strong
participation in all events, resulting in a stronger, more unified chapter of
Delta Zeta.
II. Guidelines
A. Basic Guidelines
- New point counts start at the first of each month
- Points do not carry over to the next month
- Members must attain 70% of the points to that month
2. - Seniors (90+ credits) must attain 65% of the points for that month
- If members do not attain the minimum 70%, they will be sent to
Standards Board
- Points cannot be lost once they are attained
- Other bonus points may arise as we go through the semester.
B. Rewards
- The member with the most points at the end of the month will
receive a $5 gift card to Victoria’s Secret
- The member with the most points at the end of the semester will
be recognized in front of the chapter as well as on the Instagram
and Twitter page for being the most involved member of Kappa
Psi! She will also receive a 10 dollar gift card to Victoria’s Secret.
C. Consequences
- There will be no fines or points deducted for missing events or not
reaching your percentage of participation points. Chapter
members who fail to attain the determined point percentage for
participation will be referred to Standards Board. The Standards
Board will determine their consequences case by case.
III. Excuses
- Excuses will need to be e-mailed to Secretary and President 24
hours prior to the event. If the excuse is valid, the points for that
event will not be factored into your total amount attainable for the
month. (For example, if you miss a chapter meeting because of a
3. test, the Secretary will deduct 10 points from your total points
attainable. So, if the total points attainable for the chapter month is
80, yours will be 70). The following is a list of acceptable excuses:
o Illness (I mean serious illness, if this is an overused excuse
we will ask for a doctor’s note from Etter or a family
doctor)
o Class or mandatory academic engagement (i.e. test)
o Family emergency
o Special circumstances will be taken into consideration by
the Executive Board
IV. Recruitment
- It is unacceptable to miss recruitment events. Any missed recruitment
events will result in a Standards Hearing and possible termination of
membership.
