During our organizational meeting, we discussed executing corporate objectives rest heavily upon our people, our money and our technology. In a recent team member conference call, Rob Carthel presented a theory asserted by Stephen Hawking, a father of advanced quantum physics, about the notion of a “fishbowl” - the effect one’s perception and the perception of others has on life. Today I would like to expand further and call upon each of us to examine the effects of the energy we take in and put out.
These huddles were created to provide a spotlight for thought leaders to impart motivational messages or inspire debates that (1) empower effective, efficient, and creative team members, (2) ensure the organization clearly defines & communicates its mission & values, and (3) emphasizes resources we need to accomplish our goals.
Team members often present overwhelmed with a problem or issue to which my reply begins:
Did you sleep enough?
Eat a good meal?
Are you hydrated?
Do you feel prepared to handle this?
Typically, the response I get is:
Hmmm, I could use a bottle of water and a burger, I didn’t sleep well last night, the shoes I’m wearing are uncomfortable.
We must focus on our infrastructure – identify the tools we need to build our house before we draw up the plans to build it, and certainly before we hammer the first nail.
Most of us in this room know, the solution to any problem and ultimate response from leadership is always:
Did you write a policy on it and, more importantly, is it being followed & continuously improved?
The Socratic Method
A form of cooperative argumentative dialogue between individuals, based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to draw out ideas and underlying presumptions.
Henceforth, we huddle.
Socrates said:
“Energy, or soul, is separate from matter, and the universe is made of energy – pure energy which was there before man and other material things like the earth came along”
Later, at the end of the 17th century, Newtonian physics became the corner-stone of science, based on the theory that there is only matter and nothing else – the whole universe is a machine, made of matter and nothing else, and so are we. Medical science is still stuck in the Newtonian concept, even though the rest of science has moved on to quantum physics.
Quantum physics says that as you go deeper and deeper into the workings of the atom, you see there is nothing there, just energy waves. It says an atom is actually an invisible force field, a kind of miniature tornado, which emits waves of electrical energy. Those energy waves can be measured and their effects seen, but they are not a material reality, they have no substance because they are, well, just electricity. So, science now embraces the idea that the universe is made of energy.
Dr Bruce Lipton, wrote a book titled ‘Your mind is greater than your genes’, which explains that if you drop two equal pebbles at exactly the same time into water, from the same height, they will both produce the same wave ripples. In essence, their waves will be in harmony with each other, and when their ripples meet the combined effect will be an amplification of the wavelength – in other words the merged waves become more powerful. But if you drop the pebbles from different heights or a millisecond apart, then when the waves meet they will not be in harmony and will cancel each other out – the waves become weaker. Feel free to try this at home for yourself.
Each atom has its own distinct frequency, or vibration. Quantum physicists study the energetic effect when atoms collide, not their ‘matter’. What they see is that when two atomic waves meet, they either meet in synch, creating a constructive or harmonious effect, or they meet out of synch, creating a destructive effect in which they annul each other.
Exactly the same thing happens when atomic energy waves meet – they either have a constructive effect (become more powerful) or a destructive effect. Now, we are all created of atomic energy waves, and because it is impossible to separate waves, the new science says what Osho said over forty years ago: we are all connected - our waves are always meeting and getting entangled in each other.
Dr Lipton says the result of such invisible meetings is what most of us refer to as ‘good vibes’ or ‘bad vibes’, depending on whether the other waves we meet are in synch or out of synch with us.
This means we must be aware of whether we are creating an environment made up of destructive energy waves or constructive energy waves. The cells that make up our bodies know instinctively what is nourishing and what is toxic (Lipton demonstrates this with cells in petri dishes which move away from toxic stuff and towards nourishing stuff). What is gained - or drained - from energy inputs and outputs intrinsically alters the trajectory of your life and the lives you encounter.
There are renewable and non-renewable energies – your past is an example of a non-renewable energy source since events cannot be changed, however, if negative energy previously expended is used to positively alter the course of your future, it can be transformed into the form of renewable energy.
What we allow into our own personal energy force field – what we eat – what we watch - what we read - our News/Facebook/Twitter/Instagram feed – the people we spend our time with – the beliefs we have about ourselves – the chatter in our heads – all work constructively or destructively to define the course of our lives.
So fight vigorously against a reactionary, survivalist and mediocre mentality. Be ruthlessly proactive in writing your own biography that is cognizant of the fact the deadline for our presence on earth is to be determined. Envision you are showcasing your highlight reel in front of your most beloved family, friends, and peers every second of every day, as if each one may be your last. Make them count.
Be serious. Be purposeful. Amaze yourself and those around you.
Your Assignment.
We have 13 days until our next huddle; take the time (defined in parenthesis next to each video) to watch 1 Ted talk each day, strategically designed as energy inputs to constructively alter your energy outputs.
Create a 60 second presentation of your own energy inputs & outputs and the impact or conclusion it has on your life and the contribution you can make to this organization. In our next huddle, you will each take turns presenting.
To kick off the day with an extra dose of motivation, we will watch the first Ted Talk together.
