Description of the Location:
- Kitchen in a house
Purpose:
- The young girl will be filmed in this location in order for the audience to identify with
her chores that she needs to complete, which she has further explained and written in
the letter represented to her brother.

- It has good lighting for filming
- It is a large spaced kitchen to allow sufficient room for the actor, filming crew and
cameras.
- It is safe for the actors
- It fits into the era that we would like to film in (1940s)
List two points that might make this location unsuitable for your purpose:
- There may not be enough plug sockets needed for our equipment which could mean
wires wouldn’t be long enough to reach where we need to film

- Safety precautions: making sure no electrical appliances come into contact with water
- Making sure there are no wires on the floor that could be a hazard and get in the way
of the actor

Description of the Location:
- Front sitting room
Purpose:
- The young girl uses this room in order to look out of the window when Mrs Smith
sends her inside of the house to get a glass of milk. Through the sitting room she looks
outside of the curtain where she watches her brother get taken away.

- It is the perfect sized room we want the size of the room to be
- Can get a very good view of room, good lighting in the room

- Room is empty enough for what we need it for

Description of the Location:
- Hallway
Purpose:
- This space will be used in order for the young girl to run outside when she sees her
brother get taken away. As the shot is a point of view shot, this space will be needed so
that the audience are able to identify with the space in which she is seeing as she runs
outside and has Mrs. Smith pull her back inside the room
List three points that make this location suitable for the purpose:
- Can get a very good view of room, good lighting in the room
- Location is accessible – easy to get to
- Room is empty enough for what we need it for
- There is no wires in the way and the plugs are in a good location
- Space is big enough for the actor to run through without getting hurt

- Hallway is at an awkward angle to when you come out of the sitting room
- Actor needs to be aware not to run too fast that she misplaces her step and hurts

Description of the Location:
- Conservatory room
Purpose:
- This space will be used at the beginning of the scene where we witness the young girl,
her brother and mother. The mother will be plaiting the child’s hair whilst she clutches
onto a teddy bear.

- Can get a very good view of room, good lighting in the room
- Location is accessible – easy to get to
- Room is empty enough for what we need it for
- There is no wires in the way and the plugs are in a good location
- The room looks in a compact which represents a rural household, differing from the
other bigger suburban rooms

Purpose:
- This space will be used in order for the actors to represent the change in time when
they travel through the field by foot to go back to where their family home is. They will
also be represented sleeping under a tree. The space will also be used for the boy to
comply with the daily chores represented in his letter.

Purpose:
- The green screen will be used in order to film the 1940s station; we will be putting
footage of a train represented in that era over the footage of the mother waving
goodbye. The space will also be used in order to film when the brother and sister write
letters to one another
