This presentation may help you learn some facts about our neighbor planet, Mars! You may also save it if you'd like. Please do like and share my presentation. :)
2. ABOUT MARS
Mars is sometimes called the Red Planet. It's red
because of rusty iron in the ground. Like Earth,
Mars has seasons, polar ice caps, volcanoes,
canyons, and weather. It has a very thin
atmosphere made of carbon dioxide, nitrogen,
and argon.

3. FACTS ABOUT MARS
WHERE IS MARS’ LOCATED?
Mars is the fourth planet from the
sun. It is a terrestrial planet which
means that like Earth it has a hard,
rocky surface you can walk on.
WHY IS MARS THE RED
PLANET?
Mars is called the Red Planet
because of all the iron in the soil.
This iron rusts and as a result,
makes the surface and atmosphere
look red.
WHO ARE MARS’ TWO MOONS?
Mars has two moons, and their
names are Phobos and Deimos.

4. MARS’ LOCATION
hi, mars
Mars’ distance
How long does it take to
get to Mars?
MARS AND EARTH ARE FARTHEST
APART WHEN THEY ARE BOTH AT
APHELION AND ON OPPOSITE SIDES
OF THE SUN. HERE, THEY CAN BE 250
MILLION MILES (401 MILLION
KM) APART ACCORDING TO THE NEW
YORK TIMES. THE AVERAGE
DISTANCE BETWEEN EARTH AND
MARS IS 140 MILLION MILES (225
MILLION KM).
THE CRUISE PHASE BEGINS
AFTER THE SPACECRAFT
SEPARATES FROM THE ROCKET,
SOON AFTER LAUNCH. THE
SPACECRAFT DEPARTS EARTH AT
A SPEED OF ABOUT 24,600 MPH
(ABOUT 39,600 KPH). THE TRIP
TO MARS WILL TAKE ABOUT
SEVEN MONTHS AND ABOUT 300
MILLION MILES (480 MILLION
KILOMETERS).

5. MARS’
MOONS
PHOBOS
Phobos is the innermost and larger of the
two natural satellites of Mars, the other
being Deimos. The two moons were
discovered in 1877 by American
astronomer Asaph Hall. It is named after
Phobos, the Greek god of fear and panic,
who is the son of Ares and twin brother of
Deimos.
DEIMOS
Deimos is the smaller and outermost of
the two natural satellites of Mars, the
other being Phobos. Deimos has a mean
radius of 6.2 km and takes 30.3 hours to
orbit Mars. Deimos is 23,460 km from
Mars, much farther than Mars' other moon,
Phobos.
