6. BASIC ROOMS IN RESIDENCE
BEDROOM
In the real estate world, a
space can be considered
a bedroom if it has a door
that can be closed, a
window, and a closet. A
bedroom can be a place
to sleep, study,
entertain friends, share,
and relax.
BATHROOM
A bathroom or washroom
is a room, typically in a
home or other residential
building, that contains
either a bathtub or a
shower (or both) and
usually a sink and toilet.
LIVING ROOM
Living rooms are
usually one of the
largest rooms of a
house, located
either in the
middle of a house
or in the front.
KITCHEN
A kitchen is a room or part
of a room used
for cooking and food
preparation in a dwelling.
A modern middle-class
residential kitchen is
typically equipped with
a stove,
a sink a refrigerator, and
so on.
DINNING ROOM
A dining room is
a room for consuming
food. In modern times it is
usually adjacent to
the kitchen for
convenience in serving,
although in medieval
times it was often on an
entirely different floor
level.

11. There are several different types
of bedrooms with many design
ideas available. The basic design
of each bedroom should suit the
person occupying it while being
functional and comfortable. The
type of bedroom and where it’s
located is a major factor in the
overall design and décor used
when building and decorating the
bedroom.
BEDROOM
TYPES
12. THE FIVE BASIC BEDROOM TYPES
GUEST BEDROOM
MASTER BEDROOM
The master bedroom gives adults a place to escape
the stress and troubles of the day. They’re generally
the largest room in the home and often have an
adjoining bathroom. Some are designed with sliding
glass doors that lead out to a deck or patio where
you can relax and have some privacy. From the
classic to the modern design, the main things to
consider are lighting, storage space and comfort.
Guest bedrooms make it possible to have friends and
family visit and stay in comfort and style. These bedrooms
often have an adjacent bathroom to provide guests with
more privacy. Guest bedrooms should have an empty
closet with hangers and dressers where the guests can
unpack and keep their personal items while visiting. It
should also have adequate lighting, a comfortable
chair and a reading lamp. Many guest bedrooms are
decorated in neutral colours to create a more comfortable
and relaxing atmosphere.
13. THE FIVE BEDROOM TYPES
DORM BEDROOM
TEEN BEDROOM
Teens spend a lot of time in their bedrooms, so it
needs to have an environment that reflects their
personality. Most bedrooms for teens will have an
area specified for work, such as homework.
Sufficient lighting is important to provide the teen
with a proper studying environment. A comfortable
sitting chair for reading and studying is a nice
touch. Adequate closet space and dressers are
needed for personal belongings.
Most dorm rooms are small, but there are different
types of dorms rooms. Single-sex dorms allow only the
same gender for occupants and can have restrictions
regarding visitors of the opposite sex. Special interest
or themed dorms cater to students with the same
interests. Suites consist of two bedrooms adjacent to a
shared living space. Double dorms accommodate two
people as roommates. Single dorm bedrooms are not
as common but appeal to a private person.
14. THE FIVE BEDROOM TYPES
KIDS BEDROOM
Most homes have separate bedrooms for children. Because
they’re smaller than master bedrooms, decorating can be a
little tricky. When choosing the furniture for a child’s room,
match it to the age of the child to prevent injuries. Avoid
overcrowding as well. Kids also need plenty of storage
space for toys. This lets them learn how to keep their room
neat and clean when not playing.
16. TYPES OF BATHROOM
SATURN
FULL BATHROOM
These bathrooms, often called utility closets
or utility showers, typically only hold one
bathroom component, either a shower stall
or a toilet. Quarter bathrooms exist in most
instances as additions to the lower level of a
property and allow someone to attend to
their personal hygiene without entrance to
the entire home.
HALF BATHROOM
Half bathrooms are sometimes also called
utility bathrooms or powder rooms and
typically include a sink and toilet. Depending
on where these two fixtures are positioned
in the space, you might be looking for a
space with either a linear, single wall or split
design plan.
Full bathrooms can be either center or side
layouts. Side layouts are designed with the
sink, toilet, tub or shower all installed along
one wall of the bathroom.
Full bathrooms with a center layout feature
components on two walls—the toilet and
sink paired together on one wall, and the
tub or shower in place along another.
THREE-QUARTER BATHROOM
A three-quarter bath typically offers
some type of storage, possibly a few
strategically placed storage shelves,
and although still widely considered to
be on the small side, is known to
include a sink or vanity, a toilet and a
shower.
17. FUN FACTS ABOUT
BATHROOMS
● The average person spends at least
92 days in the toilet over their
lifetime
● Most people use their mobile phones
while in the bathroom
● The 19th of November is marked as
“World Toilet Day”
● The oldest bathtub yet discovered
dates back to 1500BC
● There is a museum in Suwon, South
Korea dedicated to the toilet. Its
name is, quite fittingly, “Mr. Toilet
House”.
.
18. TYPES OF BATHROOM
CORNER SHOWER BATHROOM
MASTER BATHROOM
Corner shower bathrooms are typically
seen as shower rooms or as part of a
guest room. They feature a shower
stall that can either be placed in the
corner for the best use of space or in
the center of the space if you aren’t
tight on room.
SPLIT BATHROOM
Split bathrooms compartmentalize the
entry area and main or primary sink in
one distinct area of the bathroom, with
the toilet and bathtub being encased in
another area of the bathroom. They are
ideal in situations where the bathroom
has to be shared by more than one
person, as it mimics the feel of two
separate bathrooms
The master bathroom is typically the
biggest and most private bathroom in a
particular residence and sometimes can be
found attached to the master bedroom as
sort of an en suite design. They have the
following optional elements: Sauna or
steam shower, Double vanities with sinks
and a mirror, Whirlpool tub with soothing
jets, Linen storage, Semi-enclosed toilet for
maximum privacy.
JACK AND JILL BATHROOM
This type of bathroom is positioned
between two bedrooms and has two
doors through which it can be
entered from either bedroom. These
bathrooms can feature one or two
sinks, and include a tub or shower
and a toilet.
19. These types of bathrooms are designed for wheelchair
users and are typically larger in size because they are
required to have sufficiently clear floor space so that a
wheelchair is able to perform a complete turn. The doors
of these bathrooms have a minimum required width and
are not allowed to swing into the room’s free floor space.
