CASTING FOR A
SIMPLE ACT
Ashley is one of our three protagonists. The character comes
across as a gentle, soft and a loving young girl. Friends and
family are both a very important part of her life, as most of her
time is spent with her two best friends who all share common
interests. The role of her character is to show the audience the
caring and loving sides of teenagers and to promote change.
We needed someone who was a young teenager full of
happiness to take on this role.
The left image shows our character and what we visualised her
to be like and the right image shows our casting. The pictures
show the similarities between the two girls and why we casted
Chloe Saville to play the role of Ashley. We casted Chloe
because she has similar traits to the character, we needed
someone to be confident in front of the camera, someone who
is young and caring.
A simple act has three main protagonists named Ashley, Tia and
Sky. As a group, the three female protagonists are portrayed as bein
a tight-knit and creatively ambitious group of young women.
Through the film we get to know about each and every one of the
characters individually as we see them doing good onto their
community, reflecting the values of ‘the dream factory’.
As a whole their team of girls are quirky, fashionable and most
importantly innovative, which justifies their hunger in wanting to help
bring generosity and kind heartedness to their community.
Tia is a confident, outgoing and dynamic member of the dream factory
with a secretive side to her. She is diagnosed with a terminal illness
however being tight lipped she does not confide in her best friends.
This is her affectionate side thing through as she feels she does not
want to burden her friends with her ‘problem’. The protagonist is very
expressive as seen through her creative art and designs and her
outgoing nature expressed through fashion.
We have casted Marada Kochi as she is of nature dynamic and artisti
We wanted the character of Tia to be portrayed as fluidly and
effortlessly as possible, therefore we felt her mannerisms and
confidence would reflect perfectly through her.
Sky is a sweet, downhearted and generous member of the dream factory,
who has a passion in creative arts of textiles and photography.
Sky, alongside the other two protagonist Tia and Ashley, have always
wanted to spread generosity within the community, to which they all meet
and share their passion for creativity in the dream factory.
Sky has always wanted to create a better place around the community,
giving it back to strangers to which hopefully they will also pay it forward.
Sky has dark brown hair, who dresses with style that implies her eye for
but not the stereotypical style that girls her age will be dressing.
Sky’s sense of style and passion for creativeness, which can easily be seen in
the trailer with her engagement with the dream factory and between Tia
and Ashley.
The image on the left, represent our casting for Sky. We picked Lydia
O’Reilly as she fitted best the criteria of Sky. They both share similarities of
being passionate towards creativity but also kind and generous towards
other people. We want to produce the best possible outcome for our trailer
