Morning and Evening Duas
- 2. The following duas are to be read for protection against evil and calamities. Recitation of these duas was strongly encouraged by Hazrat Moulana Hakim Akhtar Saheb Q It must be noted that Halal sustenance, fulfillment of rights of Allah Ta’ala and His creation and abstinence from sin are essential conditions to obtain maximum benefit of these supplications.
- 3. 1 PROTECTION FROM THE EVIL OF ALL CREATIONS (Recite thrice) It is reported from Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Khubaib that once on a dark rainy night, we went out in search of Rasoolullah ,ﷺ and we found him. Rasoolullah ﷺ said, “Say” I enquired, “What should I say?” He said, “Read… 1. Surah Ikhlaas 2. Surah Al-Falaq 3. Surah An-Naas thrice every morning and evening, it will suffice (as protection) from everything.” (Mishkaat) Qul huwallaahu aḥad, Allaahus ṣamad, lamyalid walam yoolad, walam yakullahu kufuwan aḥad In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Say He is Allah, the Only One, Allah, the Independent (whom all creatures need), He begets not, nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him! Surah Ikhlaas ِمۡیِح َّ الر ِنّٰمۡح َّ الرِہ ّٰ الل ِمۡسِب ﴿ۚ ٌدَّح َّ اُہ ّٰ اللَّوُہۡل ُ ق۱﴾﴿ۚ ُدَّم َّ الصُہ ّٰ لل َّ ا۲﴾﴿ۙ ۡدَّلۡوُیۡمَّلَّوۙ۬ۡدِلَّیۡمَّل۳﴾ ٗہ َّ ل ۡن ُ کَّیۡمَّلَّو﴿٪ ٌدَّح َّ ااًو ُ ف ُ ک۴﴾
- 4. 2 Qul a-‘udhu birabil falaq, min sharri maa khalaq, wamin sharri ghaasiqin idhaa waqab, wamin sharrin naffaathaati fil ‘uqad, wamin sharri ḥaasidin idhaa ḥasad In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge with the Sustainer of daybreak, from the evil of what He has created, from the evil of the darkness as it overspreads, from the mischief of those who blow on knots (by practicing black magic), and from the mischief of the jealous one as he practices envy. Surah Al-Falaq ِمۡسِبِمۡیِح َّ الر ِنّٰمۡح َّ الرِہ ّٰ الل ﴿ۙ ِق َّ ل َّ ف ۡ ال ِبَّرِب ُ ذۡوُع َّ ا ۡل ُ ق۱﴾﴿ۙ َّق َّ ل َّ خاَّمِر َّ ش ۡنِم۲﴾﴿ۙ َّب َّ قَّوا َّ ذِا ٍقِاس َّ غِر َّ ش ۡنِمَّو۳﴾ ﴿ۙ ِد َّ قُع ۡ الیِف ِت ّٰ ث ّٰ ف َّ النِر َّ ش ۡنِمَّو۴﴾﴿٪ َّدَّسَّحا َّ ذِا ٍدِاسَّحِر َّ ش ۡنِمَّو۵﴾ Surah An-Naas ِنّٰمۡح َّ الرِہ ّٰ الل ِمۡسِبِمۡیِح َّ الر ﴿ۙ ِاس َّ الن ِبَّرِب ُ ذۡوُع َّ ا ۡل ُ ق۱﴾﴿ۙ ِاس َّ الن ِکِلَّم۲﴾﴿ۙ ِاس َّ النِہّٰلِا۳﴾ۙ۬ ِاسَّوۡسَّو ۡ الِر َّ ش ۡنِم ﴿ ِاس َّ ن َّ خ ۡ ال۴﴾﴿ۙ ِاس َّ النِرۡوُد ُصۡیِف ُسِوۡسَّوُیۡیِذ َّ ال۵﴾﴿٪ ِاس َّ النَّوِۃ َّ نِج ۡ ال َّنِم۶﴾
- 5. 3 Qul a-‘udhu birabbin-naas, malikin naas, ilaahin naas, min sharril waswaasil khannaas, alladhee yuwas wisu fee ṣudoorin naas, minal jinnati wannaas In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge with the Sustainer (Lord and Cherisher of Mankind), the King (or Ruler) of Mankind, the Ilaah (God) of Mankind, from the mischief of the Whisperer (of evil), who withdraws (after his whispers), who whispers into the hearts of mankind, among Jinn and among men. Note: Mullah Ali Qari Q has quoted Allamah Tibi Qin his Mirqaat (vol. 4 p.370), that the meaning of the Hadith is that these three surahs are sufficient for the protection from all evil, and if the reader does not read any other wazifah besides this, it would suffice him. Commentary: Today, many Muslims have problems. Some say black magic (jadoo) has been done on them, their families or on their businesses. If we read this simple wazifah, Allah Ta'ala will save us from all calamities.
- 6. 4 ELIMINATION OF THE GRIEF OF BOTH THE WORLDS (Recite seven times) Hazrat Abu Darda narrates that Rasoolullah ﷺ has said, “Whoever recites this morning and evening seven times, then Allah Ta'ala will become sufficient for his worries of both worlds.” (Ruhul Ma’aani) Ḥasbiyallaahu laa-ilaaha illaa-huwa ‘alaihi tawakkaltu wahuwa Rabbul ‘arshil ‘aẓeem Allah is sufficient for me. There is no one worthy of worship besides Him. Upon Him I have placed my trust and He is the Sustainer (Lord) of the mighty Throne. ُت ْ ل َّ كَّو َّ تِہْی َّ لَّع،َّوُہا َّ لِإَّہّٰلِإلآُہ ّٰ اللَّيِبْسَّحِمْیِظَّع ْ ال ِشْرَّع ْ ال ُ بَّرَّوُہَّو
- 7. 5 ANGELS SEEK FORGIVNESS ON ONE’S BEHALF (Recite three times) It has been narrated by Hazrat Ma’qal Ibn Yasaar that Rasoolullah ﷺ said: “Whoever recites thrice in the morning: A’udhu billaahis samee-‘il ‘aleemi minash-shayṭaanir-rajeem I seek protection of Allah, the All-Hearing, and All knowing from Shaitaan, the rejected one. Followed by the last three verses of Surah Hasr once, Allah Ta’ala will appoint over him 70,000 angels who will beg for forgiveness on his behalf until nightfall, and if he happens to die during the course of the day, he will die as a martyr. And whoever recites this at night, he will attain the same reward. (Mishkaat) Last 3 verses of Surah Hashr (recite once): ﴿ُمۡیِح َّ الر ُنّٰمۡح َّ الرَّوُہِۚۃَّادَّہ َّ الشَّو ِبۡی َّ غ ۡ الُمِلّٰعَّۚوُہا َّ لِاَّہّٰلِا ۤ اَّلۡیِذ َّ الُہ ّٰ اللَّوُہ۲۲﴾ۡیِذ َّ الُہ ّٰ اللَّوُہ ُسۡو ُ د ُ ق ۡ ال ُ کِلَّم ۡ ل َّ اَّۚوُہا َّ لِاَّہّٰلِا ۤ اَّلل َّ الس َّ اُنِمۡؤُم ۡ ال ُمَّنّٰحۡبُسُؕرِب َّ کَّتُم ۡ الُار َّ بَّج ۡ الُزۡیِزَّع ۡ ال ُنِمۡیَّہُم ۡ ال ﴿ َّنۡو ُ کِر ۡ شُیا َّ مَّعِہ ّٰ الل۲۳﴾اَّمٗہَّلُحِبَّسُیؕي ّٰ نۡسُح ۡ الُٓاءَّمۡس َّ اۡالُہَّلُرِوَّصُم ۡ ال ُ ئِراَّب ۡ ال ُِقلا َّ خ ۡ الُہ ّٰ اللَّوُہ ۡیِکَّح ۡ الُزۡیِزَّع ۡ الَّوُہَّوۚ ِضۡر َّ اۡالَّو ِتّٰوّٰم َّ السیِف﴿ُم٪۲۴﴾ ُ ذْوُع َّ ا ّٰ اللِب َّ السِہ َّ طْی َّ الش َّنِم ِمْیِلَّع ْ ال ِعْیِماِمْیِج َّ الر ِن
- 8. 6 Huwallaahul ladhee laa-ilaaha illaa huwa, ‘aalimul ghaibi wash-shahaadati, huwar Raḥmaanur Raḥeem. Huwal laahul ladhee laa-ilaaha illaa huwal malikul quddoosus salaamul mu’minul muhaiminul ‘azeezul jabbaarul mutakabbir, Subḥaanallaahi ‘ammaa yushrikoon. Huwallaahul khaaliqul baari-ul muṣawwiru lahul asmaa-ul ḥusnaa, yusabbiḥu lahoo maafis samaawaati wal arḍi, wahuwal ‘azeezul ḥakeem Allah is He, other than Whom there is no one worthy of worship, Who knows (all things) both secret and open, He is Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Allah is He, other than Whom there is none worthy of worship, the Sovereign, the Holy One (free from blemishes), the source of Peace (and Perfection). The Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Justly Proud; Glory to Allah! (High is He) above all that they associate with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Originator, the Fashioner, to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names, Whatever is in the heavens and on earth declare His Praises and Glory, And He is Exalted in Might, the Wise. PROTECTION AGAINST LEPROSY, BLINDNESS, MADNESS AND PARALYSIS (Recite three times) Subḥaanallaahil ‘aẓeemi wa biḥamdihee wa laaḥawla walaa quwwata illaa billaahi Pure and Sublime is Allah, The Mighty, and praise belongs only to Him. There is no power (to save a person from sins) nor strength (to accomplish good) but with the help of Allah. (Tabrani) ّٰ الل َّانَّحْبُسْیِظَّع ْ الِہِمهِدْمَّحِبَّو ّٰ اللِبا َّ لِا َّ ۃ َّ و ُ ق َّ لاَّوَّلْوَّح َّ لاَّوِہ
- 9. 7 PROTECTION OF ONE’S DEEN, LIFE, FAMILY AND WEALTH (Recite three times) Hazrat Ma’qal bin Yasaar narrates: Once I expressed my fears to Rasoolullah ﷺ over 5 things in my life. I feared that I would be misled or deviate from the Siraatul Mustaqeem. The second was regarding my life, I feared harm or illness would befall me. The third was about my children, that they would suffer Deeni or worldly harm. My fourth concern was my wife, that she too may suffer physical or spiritual harm. The fifth fear I had was over my wealth, should there occur a loss of income or property. After listening to my fears, Rasoolullah ﷺ taught me the following dua: (to be recited 3 times morning and evening) Bismillaahi ‘alaa deenee wanafsee wa waladee wa ahlee wa maalee May the blessings of Allah be on my deen, life, children, family and wealth. (Kanzul Ummaal) ّٰ الل ِمْسِبّٰلَّعِہْيِس ْ ف َّ نَّوْيِنْیِدیْیِلْہ َّ اَّوْیِدَّلَّوَّوَّویِلاَّم
- 10. 8 PROTECTION FROM THE CALAMITIES OF EARTH AND SKY (Recite three times) Hazrat Abban bin Uthman narrates from his father that Rasoolullah ﷺ said, “Any servant who recites (the following) thrice in the morning and thrice in the evening, nothing will harm him.” (Mishkaat) Bismillaahil-ladhee laa yaḍurru ma-'as-mihi shay'un fil-'arḍi wa laa fis-samaa-i wa huwas Samee-‘ul-'Aleem In the name of Allah, with His Name, nothing can harm anything in the earth and sky, and He is All Hearing and All Knowing. ّٰ الل ِمْسِبْیِذ َّ الِہَّم َّ السیِفاَّلَّو ِضْر َّ أْالیِفٌءْي َّ شِہِمْاس َّ عَّم ُ ر ُ ض َّ ياَّلٓاَّوُہَّوِء ْیِم َّ السْیِلَّع ْ ال ُ عُم
- 11. 9 DUROOD-E-TUNJEENA (Recite once) The blessings of this durood are abundant. It is a protection against all types of plagues and diseases. One experiences complete serenity and ecstasy of the heart. This durood is one that has been prescribed by the friends of Allah, who in their experiences have found it to be very effective. (Zaadus Saeed) Allaahumma ṣalli alaa sayyidinaa wa maulaana Muḥammadiw wa ‘alaa aali sayyidina wa maulaana Muḥammadin ṣalaatan tunjeenaa bihaa min jamee-‘il ahwaali wal aafaati, wa taqḍeelanaa bihaa jamee-‘al ḥaajaati, wa tuṭahhirunaa bihaa min jamee- ‘is sayyi aati, wa tarfa-‘unaa bihaa ‘indaka a’lad darajaati, wa tuballighunaa bihaa aqṣal ghaayaati, min jamee’-il khairaati, fil ḥayaati waba’dal mamaati, innaka ‘alaa kulli shay-in qadeer O Allah! Shower Your salutations upon our Leader and Master Muhammad ﷺ and upon the family of our Leader and Master Muhammad ﷺ . Shower such salutations by means of which you grant us salvation from all difficulties and calamities, and by means of which You fulfill all our necessities and You cleanse us from all sins, and You elevate us to the highest stages, and You cause us to achieve every aspiration, from all the good in this world and after death. Verily, You have power over everything. َّص َّ مُہ ّٰ ل َّ ا َّ لاْوَّمَّوا َّ نِدِیِسیّٰلَّع ِلٍد َّ مَّحُما َّ ن َّ و َّ لاْوَّمَّوا َّ نِدِیَّس ِلّٰایّٰلَّعِج ْ ن ُ ت ً ۃ َّ لا َّص ٍد َّ مَّحُما َّ نْیا َّ ن ِالَّوْہ َّ اْال ِعْیِمَّج ْنِماَّہِبَّواِات َّ ف ّٰ اْل,ِاتَّاجَّح ْ ال َّ عْیِمَّجاَّہِبا َّ نَّلْي ِض ْ ق َّ تَّو,ْنِماَّہِبا َّ نُرِہ َّ ط ُ تَّو ِعْیِمَّج َّ الس َّ ئِیِات، ِاتَّای َّ غ ْ الي َّص ْ ق َّ ااَّہِبا َّ ن ُ غِلَّب ُ تَّو، ِاتَّجَّر َّ الدی َّ لْع َّ ا َّ كَّد ْ نِعاَّہِبا َّ نُع َّ فْر َّ تَّو، ّٰلَّع َّ ک َّ نِا، ِاتَّمَّم ْ الَّدْعَّبَّوِۃاَّیَّح ْ الیِف، ِاتَّرْي َّ خ ْ ال ِعْیِمَّج ْنِمٌرْیِد َّ قٍءْي َّ ش ِل ُ كی
- 12. َّ فاَّلَّہ ّٰ الل َّ نِإُۖہ ُ لِطْبُیَّسَّہ ّٰ الل َّ نِإُۖر ْ حِالسِہِبْمُت ْ ئِجاَّمي ّٰوسُمَّال َّ قاْو َّ ق ْ ل َّ آا َّ م َّ ل َّنْیِدِس ْ فُم ْ الَّلَّمَّع ُ حِلْصُی,َّنْوُمِرْجُم ْ الَّهِر َّ كْوَّلَّوہِتّٰمِل َّ كِب َّ قَّح ْ الُہ ّٰ الل ُ قِحُیَّو 10 PROTECTION AGAINST WITCHCRAFT (BLACK MAGIC) (Recite thrice) By reciting the following ayaat thrice morning and evening, one will be protected from black magic. If one has already been afflicted, the effects will be removed. Fa lammaa alqaw qaala Moosaa maa ji’tum bihis siḥr, innallaaha sayubṭiluhu, innallaaha laa yuṣliḥu ‘amalal mufsideen. Wa yuḥiqqul laahul ḥaqqa bikalimaatihee walaw karihal mujrimoon When they had their throw, Moosaa said: “What you have brought is sorcery, Allah will surely make it have no effect, for Allah does not let the work of the mischief makers prosper. And Allah establishes the truth through His words, even though the guilty ones may dislike it.” (Surah Yunus – Ayahs 81 & 82)
- 13. 11 PROTECTION AGAINST EVIL FATE AND SEVERE CALAMITIES (Recite once) Rasoolullah ﷺ said: “O people! Seek Allah’s protection against severe calamities, trials and tribulations, misfortunes, wretchedness, evil fate and the taunts and malicious joy of the enemies.” (Mirqaat) (Severe calamities mean that a person is unable to cope with a difficulty as a result of which he desires death). Allaahumma innee a ’udhu bika min jahdil balaa-i wadarkish shaqaa-i wa soo il qaḍaa-i wa shamaa tatil ‘a’daa-i O Allah! I seek refuge with You from severe calamity, a bad end, a bad fate, and the gloating of enemies. َّ ال ّٰ لُہ َّ مِا َّ أیِنْوُعِءاَّلَّب ْ ال ِدْہَّج ْنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْرَّدَّوا ِكِءا َّ ق َّ لشْوُسَّوِء ِءا َّ ض َّ ق ْ الاَّدْع َّ أْالِۃ َّ اتَّم َّ شَّوِء
- 14. 12 DUA FOR GUIDANCE AND PROTECTION FROM THE EVIL OF ONE’S NAFS (INNERSELF) (Recite once) It has been narrated by Hazrat Imraan bin Husain that Rasoolullah ﷺ had taught his father this dua: Allaahumma alhimní rushdee, wa a-‘idhni min sharri nafsee O Allah, inspire me with guidance and protect me from the evil of myself. (Tirmidhi) ْىِد ْ شُر ْىِنْمِہ ْ ل َّ ا َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ ا،ْنِم ْىِن ْ ذِع َّ اَّوْىِس ْ ف َّ نِر َّ ش
- 15. 13 SAYYIDUL ISTIGHFAAR (Recite once) Hazrat Shaddad bin Aus narrates that Rasoolullah ﷺ said that Sayyidul Istighfaar is the most superior form of seeking forgiveness from Allah Ta'ala. Allaahumma anta Rabbee laailaaha illaa anta khalaqtanee wa ana ‘abduka wa ana ‘alaa ‘ahdika wa wa’dika mastaṭa’tu, a’udhubika min sharri maa ṣana’tu, aboo-u laka bini’matika ‘alayya, wa aboo-u bidhambee faghfirlee fa-innahoo laa yaghfirudh dhunooba illaa anta O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You. You created me and I am Your slave. I abide to Your covenant and promise as best I can. I take refuge in You from the evil of which I committed. I acknowledge Your favour upon me. I acknowledge my sin. So forgive me, for verily none can forgive sins except You. (Bukhari) َّت ْ ن َّ أا َّ لِإَّہّٰلِإ َّ لایِبَّر َّت ْ ن َّ أ َّ مُہ ّٰ ل َّ اْيِنَّت ْ ق َّ ل َّ خ َّ كُدْبَّعا َّ ن َّ أَّواَّم َّ كِدْعَّوَّو َّ كِدْہَّعىّٰلَّعا َّ ن َّ أَّو ُتْع َّ طَّتْاس،ْوُع َّ أ، ُتْع َّ ن َّصاَّمِر َّ ش ْنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْوُب َّ أ،َّی َّ لَّع َّ کِتَّمْعِنِب َّ کَّلُءْوُب َّ أَّوُء ْي ِۢ ِب ْ ن َّ ذِبْرِف ْ اغ َّ فْیِل َّ فِاْو ُ ن ُ الذُرِف ْ غ َّ ياَّلُہ َّ نَّت ْ ن َّ أا َّ لِإ َّب
- 16. 14 DUA FOR DELIVERANCE FROM SHIRK (ASSIGNING PARTNER WITH ALLAH TA’ALA) (Recite thrice) It has been narrated by Hazrat Abu Bakr that Rasoolullah ﷺ said: “Ascribing partners to Allah in my Ummah is much more hidden than the pace of an ant crawling upon a black stone.” (Kanzul Ummaal) Shirk is a very hidden thing. It enters the heart very silently and very few are saved from it. Upon hearing this, Hazrat Abu Bakr asked in a frightened manner, “How can one be saved from it?” Rasoolullah ﷺ said: “Should I not show you such a supplication (dua) that if you recite it, you will be free from minor and major shirk.” Hazrat Abu Bakr begged him to tell him. Rasoolullah ﷺ instructed him to say: Allaahumma innee a’udhubika min an ushrika bika shay-aw wa ana a’lamu, wa astaghfiruka limaalaa a’lamu O Allah, I seek protection in You from that I ascribe partners to You knowingly and I seek forgiveness from You for those things which I do not know. ْىِنِا َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ ا َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ اْنِمُم َّ لْع َّ اا َّ ن َّ ا َّ وا ً ئْی َّ ش َّ کِب َّ كِر ْ ش ُ ا ْن َّ ا،اَِّمل َّ كُرِف ْ غَّتْس َّ اَّو ُم َّ لْع َّ ااَّل
- 17. 15 THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE OF DUAS (Recite once) The following dua is such a comprehensive dua that it includes in it all the duas of Rasoolullah ﷺ over 23 years of nabuwwat (prophethood). Hazrat Abu Umama reports that Rasoolullah ﷺ made numerous duas but some of us could not remember any of these duas. We complained of this to Rasoolullah ﷺ who said: “Should I not teach you such a dua that will include all those duas? Say: Allaahumma innee as-aluka min khairi maa sa alaka minhu nabiyyuka Muḥammadun ṣallallaahu alaihi wasallam, wa a’udhubika min sharri mas ta- ‘aadha minhu nabiyyuka Muḥammadun ṣallallaahu alaihi wasallam, wa antal mus ta-‘aanu wa ‘alaikal balaaghu walaa ḥawla walaa quwwata illaa billaah O Allah! I beg of You for all the good that Your Nabi Muhammad ﷺ asked of You and I seek refuge from all the evil that Your Nabi Muhammad ﷺ sought refuge from. You alone are the One from whom help is sought. And it is upon You to answer our plea. There is no power to refrain from sins and to perform righteous deeds except from You. (Sunan Tirmidhi) َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ ا ُ یِب َّ نُہ ْ نِم َّ ک َّ ل َّ ئَّساَّمِر ْ ي َّ خ ْنِم َّ ک ُ ل َّ ئْس َّ ا ْىِنِا َّ مَّحُم َّ ک َّ ل َّص ٌدی ّٰ اللِہْی َّ لَّعُہ َّ لَّسَّوْم، َّ اذَّعَّتْاساَّمِر َّ ش ْنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ اَّو ُ یِب َّ نُہ ْ نِم َّ مَّحُم َّ ک َّ ل َّصٌد ّٰ اللِہْی َّ لَّعُہ َّ لَّسَّوَّم، َّ و ُ قاَّلَّوَّلْوَّحاَّلَّو ُ اغَّلَّب ْ ال َّ کْی َّ لَّعَّو ُانَّعَّتْسُم ْ ال َّت ْ ن َّ اَّو َّ لِا َّ ۃ ّٰ اللِباِہ
- 18. 16 A few beneficial duas which have been added by the publisher.
- 19. 17 DUA TO BE RECITED IN THE MORNING Aṣbaḥnaa wa aṣbaḥal mulku lillaahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, Allaahumma innee as- aluka khaira haadhal yaumi fat-ḥahu wa naṣrahu wa noorahu wa barakatahu wa hudaahu wa a’udhubika min sharri maa feehi wa sharri ma ba’dahu We and the entire universe have spent the morning for (in the devotion of) Allah, Rabb of the universe. O Allah, I ask You of all its goodness, it’s victory, assistance, noor (spiritual light), blessings and guidance. And I seek protection in You from the evil that’s in it and after it. (Abu Dawood) ّٰ لِل ُ ک ْ لُم ْ الَّحَّب ْص َّ اَّوا َّ نْحَّب ْص َّ اِہَّن ْ يِمَّالَّع ْ ال ِبَّر, َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ اا َّ ذَّہَّر ْ ي َّ خ َّ ک ُ ل َّ اْس َّ ایِنِا َّ نَّوُہَّحْت َّ ف ِمْوَّی ْ الَّت َّ کَّرَّبَّو ُهَّرْو ُ نَّوُهَّرْصْنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ اَّو ُاهَّدُہَّوُہِر َّ شِہْیِفاَّم ُهَّدْعَّباَّمِر َّ شَّو
- 20. 18 DUA TO BE RECITED IN THE EVENING Amsaynaa wa amsal mulku lillaahi Rabbil ‘aalameen, Allaahumma innee as- aluka khaira haadhihil laylati, fat-ḥahaa wa naṣrahaa wa noorahaa wa barakatahaa wa hudaahaa wa a’udhubika min sharri maa feehaa wa sharri ma ba’dahaa We and the entire universe have spent the evening for (in the devotion of) Allah, Rabb of the universe. O Allah, I ask You of all its goodness, it’s victory, assistance, noor (spiritual light), blessings and guidance. And I seek protection in You from the evil that’s in it and after it. (Abu Dawood) َّ ايَّسْم َّ اَّوا َّ نْیَّسْم ّٰ لِل ُ ک ْ لُم ْ الِہَّن ْ يِمَّالَّع ْ ال ِبَّر, َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ اِهِذَّہَّر ْ ي َّ خ َّ ک ُ ل َّ اْس َّ ایِنِا اَّہَّحْت َّ فِۃ َّ لْی َّ الل َّ نَّواَّاہَّدُہَّواَّہَّت َّ کَّرَّبَّواَّہَّرْو ُ نَّواَّہَّرْصْنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ اَّواَّمِر َّ ش اَّہَّدْعَّباَّمِر َّ شَّواَّہْیِف
- 21. 19 DUA FOR EVERLASTING PROTECTION FOR THE PRESERVING OF ONE’S MATERIAL POSSESIONS Allaahumma innee a’udhubika min zawaali ni’matika wa taḥawwuli ‘aafiyatika wa fujaa-ati niqmatika wa jamee-’i sakhaṭika It has been narrated by Ibn Umar that Rasoolullah ﷺ said: “O Allah, I seek protection in You from the snatching of any of Your favours and the withdrawal of Your protection and of sudden calamity and of all forms of Your anger. (Muslim; Mishkaat) َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ اىِنِا َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ ا َّ کِتَّمْعِن ِالَّو َّ ز ْنِم ُ وَّح َّ تَّوِۃَّاءَّج ُ فَّو َّ کِتَّیِفاَّع ِل ِط َّ خَّس ِعْیِمَّجَّو َّ کِتَّم ْ قِن َّ ک
- 22. 20 DUA FOR PAYMENT OF DEBT AND FREEDOM FROM WORRIES AND GRIEF It has been narrated by Hazrat Abu Sa’eed Khudri that one person asked, “O Rasoolullah ﷺ, worries have surrounded me and I am troubled by an overpowering debt.” Rasoolullah ﷺ said, “Should I not show you such a supplication through the reading of which your worries will be removed and your debts will be paid?” He replied, “Why not.” Rasoolullah ﷺ said, “Recite this dua (below) in the morning and evening.” Allaahumma innee a’udhubika min al-hammi wal ḥuzni wa a’udhubika minal ‘ajzi wal-kasali wa a’udhubika min al-bukhli wal-jubni wa a’udhubika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir rijaal O Allah, I seek protection in You from all worries and grief, and I seek protection in You from helplessness and laziness, and I seek protection in You from miserliness and cowardice, and I seek protection in You from overpowering debt and from the high-handedness of men. (Mirqaat; Mishkaat) ُ ذْوُع َّ اىِنِا َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ اِنْز ُ ح ْ الَّو ِمَّہ ْ ال َّنِم َّ کِب,ِلَّس َّ ک ْ الَّوِزْجَّع ْ ال َّنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ اَّو,َّو ِالَّجِالرِرْہ َّ قَّو ِنْی َّ الدِۃَّب َّ ل َّ غ ْنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ اَّو،ِنْبُج ْ الَّو ِل ْ خُب ْ ال َّنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ ا
- 23. 21 DUA TO REMOVE RESTLESSNESS AND GRIEF Hazrat Anas narrates that whenever Rasoolullah ﷺ was overcome with any restlessness or sorrow he would read the following: Yaa ḥayyu yaa qayyoomu biraḥmatika astagheeth O Ever-Living and Ever-Sustaining! I beg You for help through Your Mercy. (Mustadrak Hakim) DUA FOR GUIDANCE, TAQWA (PIETY), MODESTY AND BENEFICIAL WEALTH It has been narrated by Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood that Rasoolullah ﷺ used to make the following dua frequently. Allaahumma innee as-alukal hudaa wat tuqaa wal ‘afaafa wal ghinaa O Allah, I seek from You guidance, piety, modesty and wealth. (Muslim) ُ ی َّ قاَّی ُ يَّحاَّیُمْو ُ ثْیِغَّتْس َّ ا َّ کِتَّمْحَّرِب َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ ایِنِاّٰدُہ ْ ال َّ ک ُ ل َّ أْس َّ أ ّٰ ق ُ التَّوی ّٰ نِغ ْ الَّو َّاف َّ فَّع ْ الَّويي
- 24. 22 DUA FOR ATTAINING THE LOVE OF ALLAH TA’ALA On the authority of Hazrat Abu Darda , Rasoolullah ﷺ said that Hazrat Dawood used to make the following dua: Allaahumma innee as-aluka ḥubbaka wa ḥubba may yuḥibbuka wal ‘amalal ladhee yuballighunee ḥubbaka, Allaahummaj’al ḥubbaka aḥabba ilayya min nafsee wa ahlee wa min al-maa-il baaridi O Allah, I ask for Your love, and the love of that person who loves You and of those actions which attract Your love. O Allah make Your love greater to me than the love of myself, my family and of cold water. (Tirmidhi) َّ ا ّٰ للُہ َّ مِاِنی َّ اْس َّ ا ُ ل َّ کْيِن ُ غِلَّبُیْیِذ َّ الَّلَّمَّع ْ الَّو َّ ک ُ بِح ُ ی ْنَّم َّ بُحَّو َّ ک َّ بُح ّٰ لل َّ ا، َّ ک َّ بُحِدِراَّب ْ الِءاَّم ْ ال َّنِمَّوْیِلْہ َّ اَّوْيِس ْ ف َّ ن ْنِمَّی َّ لِإ َّ بَّح َّ ا َّ ک َّ بُحْلَّعْاج َّ مُہ
- 25. 23 DUA FOR STEADFASTNESS ON DEEN Hazrat Sahra bin Jaushab says: I asked Umme Salma , “What was the dua most often read by Rasoolullah ﷺ in his house?” She replied that Rasoolullah ﷺ used to read: Ya muqallibal quloob thabbit qalbee ‘alaa deenik O Controller of hearts! Make my heart firm on Your Deen. (Tirmidhi) One who continuously makes this dua will remain steadfast on Deen with the result he will die with Imaan, Insha Allah. اَّیّٰلَّعْيِب ْ ل َّ ق ْتِب َّ ث ِبْو ُ ل ُ ق ْ ال َّبِل َّ قُم َّ کِنْیِدی
- 26. 24 DUA FOR PROTECTION FROM ALL FATAL DISEASES It has been narrated by Hazrat Anas that Rasoolullah ﷺ would make this dua: Allaahumma innee a’udhu bika minal baraṣi wal junooni wal judhaami wa sayyi- il asqaam O Allah, I seek protection in You from white liver disease, insanity, leprosy and all fatal diseases. (Abu Dawood) Note: Today we hear of new diseases all the time therefore we should recite this dua daily. One of the primary cause of disease is sins. By associating with the Auliya Allah (friends of Allah), a person will build courage and strength to discard sins. َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ اَّو ِنْو ُ نُج ْ الَّو ِصَّرَّب ْ ال َّنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ ایِنِاُج ْ الِام َّ قْس َّ أْال ِئِیَّسَّو ِام َّ ذ
- 27. 25 DUA FOR THE PROTECTION OF PUNISHMENT IN THE GRAVE, FIRE OF HELL AND FROM THE EVIL OF WEALTH AND POVERTY Ummul Mumineen (mother of the Ummah), Hazrat Ayesha narrates that Rasoolullah ﷺ used to make this dua frequently. Allaahumma innee a’udhubika min fitnatil qabri wa ‘adhaabin naari wa min sharril ghinaa wal faqri O Allah, I seek protection in You from the trials of the grave, punishment of Jahannum and the evil of wealth and poverty. (Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi) DUA FOR SINCERITY IN ACTIONS Allaahummaj’al a’maalanaa khaaliṣatal liwajhika, wa laa taj’al li-aḥadin feehaa haẓẓan lighairika O Allah, make our actions sincerely for Your pleasure, and do not make in it any portion for anyone besides You. َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ ا َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ اىِنِا ّٰ نِغ ْ الِر َّ ش ْنِمَّوِرا َّ الن ِاب َّ ذَّعَّوِرْب َّ ق ْ الِۃ َّ نْتِف ْنِميِر ْ ق َّ ف ْ الَّو ّٰ لل َّ ا َّ كِر ْ ي َّ ِغل ً ظَّحاَّہْیِف ٍدَّح َّ اِل ْلَّعْج َّ تاَّلَّو َّ کِہْجَِّول ً ۃَِّصلا َّ خا َّ نَّالَّمْع َّ ا ْلَّعْاج َّ مُہ
- 28. 26 DUA SEEKING REFUGE FROM FOUR THINGS Zaid bin Arqam narrated that the Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate: Allaahumma innee a’udhu bika min ‘ilmin la yanfa’u wa min qalbin la yakhsha’u wa min nafsin la tashba’u wa min da’watin la yustajaabu lahaa O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge which does not benefit, from a heart that does not entertain the fear (of Allah), from a soul that is not satisfied and the supplication that is not answered. (Muslim) DUA FOR HALAAL SUSTENANCE Allaahummak finee biḥalaalika ‘an ḥaraamika, wa aghninee bifaḍlika ‘amman siwaaka O Allah, help me by granting me Your legitimate sustenance and save me from illegitimate means of livelihood, and make me care free by Your Benevolence, free of seeking from anyone else except You. (Tirmidhi) َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ اِنِإ َّ ل ٍم ْ لِع ْنِم َّ کِب ُ ذْوُع َّ أی َّ ل ٍب ْ ل َّ ق ْنِمَّو ُ ع َّ ف ْ نَّیاٍس ْ ف َّ ن ْنِمَّو ُ ع َّ ش ْ خَّیا َّ ل ُ عَّب ْ ش َّ تا َّ لٍۃَّوْعَّد ْنِمَّواَّہَّل ُابَّجَّتْسُیا ّٰ لل َّ ا َّ اكَّوِس ْن َّ مَّع َّ کِل ْ ض َّ فِبْيِنِن ْ غ َّ اَّو َّ کِماَّرَّح ْنَّع َّ ِکلاَّلَّحِبْيِنِف ْ اک َّ مُہ
- 29. 27 DUA FOR KNOWLEDGE, TOLERANCE, TAQWA AND AAFIYAH Allaahumma aghninee bil ‘ilmi, wa zayyinnee bil ḥilmi, wa akrimnee bit taqwaa, wa jammilnee bil ‘aafiyati O Allah, enrich me with knowledge, beautify me with tolerance, honour me with piety and beautify me with good health. (Kanzul Ummaal) DUA FOR A GOOD END Allaahummaj- ‘al khaira ‘umree aakhirahoo, wa khaira ‘amalee khawaateemahoo, wa khaira ayyaamee yauma alqaaka feehi O Allah, make the last part of my life the best one, and the concluding portion of my actions the best one, and out of the days make the day when I meet You the best one. (Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah / Munajaat) ِم ْ لِع ْ الِبْيِنِن ْ غ َّ ا َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ ا,ِم ْ لِح ْ الِبْيِنِی َّ زَّو,یّٰو ْ ق َّ التِبْيِنْمِر ْ ك َّ اَّو,يِن ْ لِمَّجَّو ِۃَّیِفاَّع ْ الِب َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ اُهَِّرخآْیِرْمُعَّر ْ ي َّ خ ْلَّعْاج,ْیِلَّمَّعَّر ْ ي َّ خَّوُہَّمْیِتاَّو َّ خ,َّمْوَّیْيِما َّ ی َّ اَّر ْ ي َّ خَّو ِہْیِف َّ اك َّ ق ْ ل َّ ا
- 30. 28 TREASURE OF JANNAH Hazrat Abu Hurairah narrates that Rasoolullah ﷺ said: “Read Laa ḥawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah frequently, as this is from the treasures of Jannah.” Hazrat Makhool Q, a great Tabi’ee, narrates that whoever reads the above, Allah Ta’ala will remove 70 calamities from him, the lightest of which is poverty. Hazrat Makhool Qquotes the above with the addition: Laa ḥawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah, laa manja-a minallaahi illaa ilayhi Four benefits: 1. By its recitation, an inclination is created for good deeds and disinclination for bad deeds. 2. Rasoolullah ﷺ said that it is a cure for 99 diseases of both the worlds, the lightest of which is worry. 3. When anyone reads this, then Allah Ta’ala tells the Angels that His servant has become obedient and has left disobedience. 4. Hazrat Ibraheem told Rasoolullah ﷺ on the night of Mi’raaj to tell the ummah that they should increase their gardens of Jannah by reciting the above. ّٰ اللِبا َّ لِا َّ ۃ َّ و ُ قاَّلَّوَّلْوَّحاَّلِہ ّٰ اللِبا َّ لِا َّ ۃ َّ و ُ قاَّلَّوَّلْوَّحاَّل ّٰ الل َّنِم َّ أَّج ْ نَّماَّلِہِہْیَّلِاا َّ لِاِہ
- 31. 29 Abdullah bin Mas’ood narrates that when he presented himself in the service of Rasoolullah ,ﷺ he recited ّٰ اللِبا َّ لِا َّ ۃ َّ و ُ قاَّلَّوَّلْوَّحاَّلِہ . Rasoolullah ﷺ asked: “Do you know what it means?” I replied: “Allah and His Rasool ﷺ know best.” Rasoolullah ﷺ said: “There is no strength to refrain from sins but with the protection of Allah and there is no power to accomplish good deeds but with the help of Allah” َّوِہْیَّلِاا َّ لِاِہ ّٰ الل َّنِم َّ أَّج ْ نَّماَّل “there is no protection from Allah’s punishment and wrath but by taking refuge in the mercy of Allah Ta’ala.” (Mirqaat) DUA TO BE READ IN THE LAST 10 DAYS OF RAMADAAN It has been narrated by Hazrat Ayesha that Rasoolullah ﷺ made this dua: Allaahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuḥibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘annee O Allah, You are Oft-Forgiving, You love to forgive, so forgive me. (Tirmidhi) In some narrations it appears that Rasoolullah ﷺ used to encourage the Sahaabah to learn this dua. Hence, special attention has been drawn to its recitation on the night of power (Lailatul Qadr). َّ مُہ ّٰ لل َّ اِا ُ بِح ُ ت ٌ و ُ فَّع َّ ک َّ نْيِنَّع ُفْاع َّ فَّو ْ فَّع ْ ال
