1. Is Paul Pogba going to become
the “next big thing”?
“P
ogba will go on to be
one of the best mid-
fielders in Europe and
he was the natural
successor of Paul Scholes, some-
one to build the team around”
the words of ex football star,
Zinadine Zidane, to Manchester
United manager, Alex Ferguson.
Ferguson retired, in 2013, after
winning 38 trophies with the
successful team.
Paul Pogba, is now 20 years
old, and playing for the Italian
football club Juventus, and of
the French National team. In
the summer of 2012, Pogba
left Manchester United and the
Premier League after Ferguson
refused to give him a contract
worth £20,000-a-week. Fergie
didn’t think that Pogba was worth
that much, so young and inex-
perienced. He made a massive
mistake because, people under-
estimated him. Therefore, now
that he is doing an astonishing
job at Juventus and is nicknamed
“Golden Boy”, lots of other clubs
are looking to buy him, includ-
ing Real Madrid where Zidane
is now the sporting director. “He
is doing very well in Juventus at
the moment but, as always, Real
Madrid will be looking at adding
all the best players in the world”
he states.
With Manchester United being
in a very difficult position right
now, having changed manager
and losing many games, there are
debates on whether this downfall
would have been prevented if
they had not let go of Pogba for
free, or even at all.
Pogba has blamed Sir Alex for
not giving him a chance to shine
at Manchester United. He stated
that, even though the team was
in need of midfielders, he was not
given an opportunity to show the
talent he really had. He only ap-
peared seven times as a substitute.
“I didn’t want to sign a contract
as Ferguson didn’t play me, even
though there were no midfield-
ers there. He obviously thought
I didn’t deserve the contract I
asked for and didn’t put me in
the team even though he had no
midfield players, it was his choice”
- Pogba announced.
“Maybe Manchester United will
regret not having me, but I don’t
think about the team anymore. I
have no regrets about leaving
Manchester, none at all” revealed
the Frenchman, along with the
story that Alex Ferguson had
previously told him not to go and
play in Italy because of the racist
problem there. However, Pogba
did not listen to what the man-
ager said, as all he wanted was to
be seen and to be noticed playing
football. He had the chance to do
this in Italy. “It’s not a problem,
there’s racism everywhere, not
only in Italy” he stated firmly.
Pogba was nominated best young
player in Europe in Decem-
ber 2013 and is still considered
as that now after winning the
“Tuttosports Golden Boy Award”.
Even though, in 2013/2014 he
has only had 63 appearances and
scored 11 goals (only in Juventus),
every time he steps foot on that
field - the game changes and suc-
cess usually follows. His job as a
midfielder is to create chances, to
run around that field like there’s
no tomorrow, to create chances
for goals and to score goals from
amazing distances, angles and
with fantastic skills like he nor-
mally tends to do.
There have been rumours that
Pogba was to leave Juventus, as
major clubs like Arsenal, PSG,
Manchester United and Man-
chester City have been looking
on buying him. However, “from
our point of view, we do not want
to sell Pogba and so far we have
closed the door to any possible
“Golden Boy” proves to be the
noticed.
“Maybe Manchester
United will regret
not having me, but
I don’t think about
the team anymore.
I have no regrets
about leaving Man-
chester, none at all”

2. buyer” reassures Giuseppe Ma-
rotta, Juventus’ general manager.
“He has become a key player for
Antonio Conte’s side, making 63
appearances in only 18 months
and netting 11 goals”. With this,
Juventus fans are happy that he is
staying, as it is believed that Paul
Pogba “completes the team” and
is a great asset to the success of
the current Serie A champions,
soon-to-be champions again this
year, being first in the league.
Overall, Paul Pogba is a great
player with great qualities and
skills. Him being so young is not
the disadvantage. Alex Ferguson
thought it was. It’s a huge advan-
tage as the player is going to grow
to become a top player, following
Zidane’s footsteps. For now, he
is going to continue to be part of
Juventus, but in the next upcom-
ing years, when he becomes older
and more experienced, Juventus
will be looking to sell him as the
team would gain a lot of money
for him and sell him to another
team that maybe in that period
needs a players with that much
quality and skill.
“Paul has a lot of quality and has
had the luck to arrive at Juventus
at the right moment, Juventus are
the example of a team that multi-
plies the quality of the individual”
concludes legendary Italian coach,
Arrigo Sacchi in Tuttosport.
“Juventus are the
example of a team
that multiplies the
quality of the indiv
vidual”
Paul has been extremely lucky to
have found Juventus as the team
to finally have settled into. Like
Arrigo Sacchi mentioned, Juve
have been able to multiply the
quality of the player and make
him almost the star of the team,
allowing him to play to the best
of his abilities. As Pogba has been
looking for a team that notices
him and enable him to be no-
ticed (something that Manchester
United did not do), he most likely
will not be leaving Juventus any
time soon. This is because for
now, for his age, skill and experi-
ence, the Italian team has given
him everything he could have
possibly wished for.
Juventus are now on the right
path of winning their 32nd scu-
detto and a lot of their success
goes to the Frenchman.
