Notes from Logi:
But this idea that there is just one type of end user is – as many of you know – a complete oversimplification. End users of analytic apps are increasingly diverse.
In fact, to help our customers deliver the right analytic capabilities to the different types of end users, we created “The Continuum of Analytic Adoption” The Continuum outlines the three distinct analytic “personas” within an organization.
Starting on the left side, there are information “Consumers”. This could be a sales executive or someone on a production line, who is looking for access to reports or dashboards that provide core operational metrics that don’t typically change dramatically over time. They may be customized slightly, but here it’s about delivering reports, not interacting with the underlying data.
As we move to the right, we see more power users, or what we call the “Creators.” These users want the ability to choose the data they need and supplement those existing dashboards and reports with their own metrics. While this is a more advanced information worker, they’re still operating in a fairly managed environment, where the data has been vetted and prepared for them.
We also have the more advanced “Analysts” that don’t want any kind of managed experience - they want that blank canvas where they can assemble the data they need and work with their team to come up with completely new insights.
As you can see, each persona across The Continuum has unique needs.
