• Tells an attitude of judgement formed about
something.
• Cannot be proven true or false.

12. Rhetorical Question
• A question used to force
the reader to think about
something specific.
• Does not need to be
answered.

16. Emotive Language
• A deliberate choice of words to elicit an emotional
response.
• A word used to influence an opinion by causing the
reader to feel a specific way.

owners had abandoned him, with no

20. Superlative
• A word that suggests the highest quality or degree.

24. Triple (Rule of 3)
• A word or phrase repeated 3 times for emphasis
and/or effect.

25. Cool, calm & collected.

26. Blood, sweat and tears.

27. Stop, look and listen.

28. Exaggeration (Hyperbole)
• An exaggeration.
• Making something bigger or better or smaller or
worse than it really is.

29. I’m so hungry I could eat a horse.

30. My rucksack weighs a tonne.

31. I’m so tired I could sleep for a
year.

32. Direct Address
• Using 2nd person POV
• “You”
• Addresses the reader directly.
• Makes the reader feel involved.

33. “Join your country's army!”
