MiniTool Power Data Recovery is a highly efficient data recovery software for formatted disk or partition, through which formatted disk or partition data can be scanned and found in a few minutes
The document discusses several memory management techniques including paging, segmentation, and swapping. Paging divides memory into fixed-size blocks called frames and logical memory into blocks called pages. It uses a page table to map logical to physical addresses. Segmentation divides programs into logical segments like code and data and allows segments to be placed anywhere in memory. Swapping temporarily moves processes out of memory to disk to allow other processes to run.
The document discusses file system implementation and structures. It covers on-disk structures like boot sector, master file table, and inode. In-memory structures include mount tables, directory caches, and open file tables. File systems use various allocation methods like contiguous, linked, and indexed allocation to map files to disk blocks. File systems also require free space management, typically using bit vectors or linked lists. Performance can be improved through techniques like caching and read-ahead.
ppt on Segmentation in operationg systemsuraj sharma
Segmentation is a memory management scheme that divides logical memory into segments. Each segment has a name, length, and is assigned a segment number. A logical address consists of a two-tuple of <segment-number, offset> that specifies the segment and location within that segment. A segment table maps the logical two-dimensional addresses to one-dimensional physical addresses by storing the base and limit of each segment.
This document discusses disk scheduling techniques. It provides an overview of different scheduling algorithms like FIFO, SSTF, SCAN, C-SCAN, and N-step-SCAN. These algorithms aim to reduce disk seek times and improve performance by selecting the next request that minimizes head movement based on the disk arm's current position. The document also provides examples to illustrate the performance differences between sequential and random data access and how scheduling algorithms can help optimize disk access times.
This document discusses different memory management techniques used in operating systems. It covers basic concepts like logical vs physical addresses and address translation. It then describes swapping as a technique where processes can be moved out of main memory temporarily. It also discusses contiguous allocation of memory to processes. The key techniques of paging and segmentation are explained in detail. Paging divides memory into fixed sized pages and uses a page table to map logical to physical addresses. Segmentation allows programs to be composed of different segments like code, data etc.
The document discusses mass storage systems, including disk structure, disk scheduling algorithms, disk management, RAID structure, disk attachment methods, stable storage implementation, and tertiary storage devices. It provides details on disk formatting, swap space management, different RAID levels, network attached storage, stable storage implementation, removable media like tapes and optical disks, operating system issues, and hierarchical storage management.

The document discusses operating systems and how they manage hardware, software, memory and processes. It defines key concepts like physical memory, virtual memory, paging, swapping and buffers. It also categorizes different types of operating systems like real-time OS, single-user OS, multi-user OS and discusses how they schedule processes and allocate system resources.
Paging and Segmentation in Operating SystemRaj Mohan
The document discusses different types of memory used in computers including physical memory, logical memory, and virtual memory. It describes how virtual memory uses paging and segmentation techniques to allow programs to access more memory than is physically available. Paging divides memory into fixed-size pages that can be swapped between RAM and secondary storage, while segmentation divides memory into variable-length, protected segments. The combination of paging and segmentation provides memory protection and efficient use of available RAM.
The document discusses different memory management strategies:
- Swapping allows processes to be swapped temporarily out of memory to disk, then back into memory for continued execution. This improves memory utilization but incurs long swap times.
- Contiguous memory allocation allocates processes into contiguous regions of physical memory using techniques like memory mapping and dynamic storage allocation with first-fit or best-fit. This can cause external and internal fragmentation over time.
- Paging permits the physical memory used by a process to be noncontiguous by dividing memory into pages and mapping virtual addresses to physical frames, allowing more efficient use of memory but requiring page tables for translation.

Microservice Teams - How the cloud changes the way we workSven Peters
A lot of technical challenges and complexity come with building a cloud-native and distributed architecture. The way we develop backend software has fundamentally changed in the last ten years. Managing a microservices architecture demands a lot of us to ensure observability and operational resiliency. But did you also change the way you run your development teams?
Sven will talk about Atlassian’s journey from a monolith to a multi-tenanted architecture and how it affected the way the engineering teams work. You will learn how we shifted to service ownership, moved to more autonomous teams (and its challenges), and established platform and enablement teams.
Measures in SQL (SIGMOD 2024, Santiago, Chile)Julian Hyde
SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.

1. How to recover formatted disk or
partition
Recover formatted disk or partition with formatted disk recovery software - MiniTool
Power Data Recovery. MiniTool Power Data Recovery is a highly efficient data recovery
software for formatted disk or partition. By using MiniTool Power Data Recovery, formatted
disk or partition data can be scanned and found in a few minutes. It also
supports recovery of formatted CD, memory stick, memory card and other removable
storage media.
--Source from
http://www.powerdatarecovery.com/free-file-recovery-software/recover-formatted-
disk-or-partition.html
How can data of formatted disk or partition be recovered? Let' s firstly come to what is disk
or partition formatting.
Formatting refers to divide disks in accordance with certain principles, allowing computer
to store and search files. Formatting disk is to eliminate all files on disk.
Formatting comprises of high-level formatting and low-level formatting
Low-level formatting is to divide track and section for blank disk, mark address information,
set crossed factors and fix logical bad track and other low-level operations. Requiring
specialized software, these operations is not recommended due to its possible damage to
disk magnetic medium.
High-level formatting refers to remove disk data, create boot information, initialize FAT and
mark logical bad track, etc. FORMAT command, self-owned of operating system, is
always employed to perform high-level formatting on disk. Generally, disk formatting or
partition formatting, we mentioned, refers to high-level formatting. High-level formatting is
to remove disk data, create boot information, initialize FAT and mark logical bad track, etc,
as mentioned previous. Hereon, remove doesn' t mean erase but simply mark files on disk
or partition as inaccessible. Consequently, user would fail to find files and data ahead of
formatting and its actual content still exists on disk or partition instead of being erased.
It dawned on us after understanding disk and partition formatting: as long as system
utilities instead of low-level formatting that perform disk partition formatting on disk or
partition, damaged data is retrievable with data recovery software.
Reliable and efficient, MiniTool Power Data Recovery is exactly such kind of data recovery
for disk partition formatting. With powerful function and a size of less than 5MB, MiniTool
Power Data Recovery is green software that is non-toxic and harmless and never impairs
operating system. Besides, MiniTool Power Data Recovery supports 32/64bit operating
systems such as Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista/7/2008 and so on; files systems
2. of FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5, so forth. As the release of diverse
operating systems and file systems, MiniTool Power Data Recovery will upgrade
accordingly to relieve user of MiniTool Power Data Recovery inaccessibleness attributing
to operating system matters.
