2. Invented to solve a problem….
“90% of all cardboard boxes are used
just once”
Box Latch™ Products are a Re-Usable
alternative to tape, staples and bands
that have traditionally been used to close
cardboard boxes.
Eco Latch Systems, LLC, was founded in 2010 by two Wisconsin brothers. Their goal: lower the cost of doing business and reduce the impact on the environment by educating companies and the public in the re-use of corrugate boxes. Leveraging their life experiences in the business world, these company founders set out to create an easy-to-use, box flap closure system that would replace tape. Just as Velcro changed the way the world replaced shoe laces, zippers and other clasping devices, the objective of our Box Latch™ Products is to shift today’s paradigm from recycling corrugate to re-using it by “Changing the way the world closes and re-uses boxes!”
Box Latch™ Products are a Re-Usable alternative to tape, staples and bands that have traditionally been used to close cardboard boxes. Operations and supply chain managers are able to reduce material costs (corrugated box and tape expenses) by anywhere from 10% to 90% following integration of Box Latch™ Products into their supply chain systems. Our Mission: Change the way the world closes and Re-Uses boxes. Develop the products and tools to help the world understand that Re-Use, not recycling, is the most effective long-term solution to corrugate waste management. Embrace circular economy thinking by providing the education and customer service needed to implement our solutions in an environmentally, socially and fiscally responsible manner.
Our Products and Their Value: Cardboard boxes have existed for nearly 150 years without a simple, effective box closing and reopening system. Tape, staples, glues and straps all destroy boxes, limiting their Re-Use or making them non-Re-Useable. Our Box Latch™ Products (Small and Large, with or without Anchors and Medium) and Side Latch™ reflect the new thinking and design required to lead a movement that re-uses boxes multiple times, in lieu of once and, then, recycles them. Box Latches™ extend the lives of boxes multi-fold and markedly reduce costs for tape and the expense incurred disposing of it.
In 2015, countries around the world adopted the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Last year the Paris Agreement on climate change went into effect. Businesses, government and individuals from around the world are now being asked to take steps to address the rise of global temperatures.
One small step that we can each take to help meet SDG # 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production is to “do more and better with less.” Remembering back to grade school, we all learned about the power of the 3 R’s (i.e. first we should focus on reduction, than figure out ways to re-use items and lastly recycle/repurpose the item at the end of their natural life.) With the increased awareness and focus on zero waste management and material re-use the time has come for us to implement a culture of re-use within our organizations
As we look to the future, Box Latch™ Products hopes to continue to lead by example….following our mission. We are choosing to “B the Change we want to see in the world!”
