2. Stereotypical and cliché
• In most rom-coms the idea of love
will be portrayed in a very
stereotypical way and will show
lots of clichés such as the man
buying flowers for the woman or
that he will whisk her off her feet.
3. Characters and music
• The two protagonists will normally be
one male and one female to portray
the traditional idea of falling in love.
• The film will probably start with a voice
over if the protagonists are adults
rather than teens and majority of the
music will be soft and romantic or
ordinary every day music.
4. Colour themes
• The general colours used will be
pink, white and red. Pink
represents romance and love. Red
will represent lust and passion
whereas white will show
innocence and purity.
5. Plot
• The plot will usually be the male
falling for the female and having
to win her from other rivals or life
challenges. In the end they usually
end up living happily ever after
together.
