Power to Keep Going

Power to Keep Going
at Home!
Power to Keep Going
in Ministry!
Purpose-Driven Church
• “Moving members into ministry
should be an ongoing process,
not a special emphasis. Your
placement process should focus
on empowering people, not on
filling positions. You’ll have a
much higher success rate with
those you place in ministry if
you focus on the SHAPE of the
individual, not the needs of this
institution. Remember, ministry
is about people, not programs.”
Empowering People
• The word “empower” means
to energize something or
someone. Building upon
the foundation of CLASS
101 and 201, we define
“M-power” as “Energizing
Maturing Members for
Ministry.”
M-power Passage
• “It was he who gave some to be
apostles, some to be prophets,
some to be evangelists, and
some to be pastors and
teachers, to prepare God’s
people for works of service, so
that the body of Christ may be
built up until we all reach unity
in the faith and in the knowledge
of the Son of God and become
mature, attaining to the whole
measure of the fullness of
Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-13
M-power Philosophy
• Every Member is a Minister
and Every Ministry Matters
to God.
Ministry Team Dream
• The Ministry Team dreams
of the day when every
member is ministering
through his or her God-
given SHAPE so that all of
the needs within the church
are met by the members of
Grace Community Church.
Dream Passage
• “Each one should use
whatever gift he has
received to serve others,
faithfully administering
God’s grace in its various
forms.” 1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)
Purpose Statement
• To prayerfully invoke
servanthood by inventing
strategies that invite people
to serve and invest in their
God-given SHAPE for life.
Sweet-Spot Ministry

Passions Intersect
• What Do I Love to Do?
(Gifts/Talents)

• Why Do I Want to Impact
Them? (Drive/Motive)
• How Will I Impact Them?
(Your Ministry)
Sweet-Spot Leading
• Focus in Your Mind
• Fulfillment in Your Heart
• Fruitfulness in Your Life

DECIDE to Serve Programs
• RICK’S PICKS—This is a list of the top ministry opportunities currently available
for members and guests. This list is updated monthly and can be located online
and on the ministry table.
• JOHN’S JOBS FOR SMALL GROUPS—This is a list of the top ministry
opportunities available for your Small Groups. These are opportunities, which
allow your Small Group to serve the Grace family together.
• MINISTRY EXPLORER—This is an interactive, online tool to help you search the
various ministries, see key information on each, and sign up for the one that best
fits you.
• MINISTRY-IN-A-BOX—Serve from home. Ministry-In-A-Box is just that— special
ministry opportunities that fit in boxes for volunteers to pick up at the church
office, complete at home, and return the next day. Projects vary from making
phone calls to stuffing and sorting.
• VOLUNTEER CENTRAL—Have time during the day? If so, serve a few hours at
Volunteer Central. Volunteer Central is located within the church office and open
for volunteers who love to serve behind the scenes and play a vital role in the
success of Grace Community Church. Volunteer Central is open Monday—Friday
from 10am—4pm.
• VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER—Are you a computer wiz? Use your home computer to
complete various ministry projects from home. Projects include research, data
entry, power point, proof reading, and much more.
DISCOVER Your SHAPE Programs
• CLASS 301: DISCOVERING MINISTRY—This class is an
exciting, fast-paced Sunday evening seminar (3 hours)
designed to help you discover your unique place of ministry
in the Body of Christ. In CLASS 301, you will get the
opportunity to learn how your spiritual gifts, passions,
abilities, personality and experiences can be used to serve
others. In addition, you will leave with a personalized
SHAPE Profile, providing you with important insights into
how God has uniquely shaped you.
• SHAPE DISCOVERY SESSIONS—A SHAPE Discovery Session
is a one-hour meeting facilitated by a trained SHAPE Guide.
During your Discovery Session you and your SHAPE Guide
will review your SHAPE Profile, so you can find a fulfilling
place to serve and express your God-given SHAPE in ministry
at Grace Community Church.
DEMONSTRATE Locally Programs
• SHAPE GUIDES—Your SHAPE Guide will continue working with you over a six
month period to ensure that you find just the right place of ministry at Grace.
• PRIMARY & SECONDARY MINISTRIES—The goal of CLASS 301 centers around
helping you find a primary ministry based upon your SHAPE and a secondary
ministry based upon the needs of the church. Your SHAPE Guide will lead you to
explore multiple options until you find your sweet-spot in ministry.
• START A NEW MINISTRY—Grace Community Church has many ministries that
have been started by lay ministers just like you. So, if you have a possible new
ministry idea, please share it with the Ministry Team so we can see if it qualifies as
a new ministry.
• SERVING GOD TOGETHER—This is an 8-week Small Group video series focusing
upon ministry. Each week, your small group will be inspired and challenged to
transition from being spectators to Christ-centered participants, serving the Lord
together. The training will help your entire group see how their individual
spiritual gifts and passions can strengthen your group and support the church
family.
• M-POWERMENT TRAINING—Just like you, ministry leaders at Grace desire to
make an impact with their lives through serving. So, in an effort to keep their
passion alive for what God is asking them to do, we offer an interactive training
session just for them—a time to be sharpened, challenged, and renewed in their
service to the Lord.
DIRECT Globally Programs

• CLASS 302: DEVELOPING THE FOCUSED LIFE—This interactive class
guides you in the focusing of your life so you can replace inner frustration
and fatigue with focus and fulfillment from God. You will also get the
opportunity to answer five key questions about your life as outlined by
Rick Warren in Chapter 40 of The Purpose Driven Life.
• LIFE REVIEW RETREATS—A Life Review Retreat is a planned time
away from the noise and distraction of daily life in an effort to restore
your passion and re-energize your life in Christ. The Retreat is designed to
help you refresh your Spirit, refine your SHAPE, and refocus your entire
life on what matters most.
• FOCUSED LIFE RETREATS—A Focused Life Retreat is a planned time
away from the noise and distraction of daily life in an effort to give 18 to
29 year olds a clear direction for their life, career, family, and ministry.
• LIFE PLANNING & MISSION—Fulfilling our life mission is a crucial
component in the journey of living for God’s glory here on earth. In The
Purpose Driven Life, Pastor Rick shares that “God wants you to have
both a ministry in the Body of Christ and a mission in the world.” You
can start to learn about your special life mission in the world by taking
CLASS 302, a Life Retreat with a close friend, and CLASS 401.
