What is consumer behavior?
● Consumer behavior is the study of consumers’ buying choices and the
motivation behind those decisions
Why do marketers utilize consumer behavior?
● Businesses can determine how to market their products and services
by understanding how consumers think
What influences consumer behavior?
● Cultural, Social, Personal, and Psychological all have a significant
influence on a consumer’s buying behavior.
● These are all factors that a business needs to consider when creating a
marketing plan.
Social Influences
● Consumer are influenced by people who are around them or who they
aspire to be like
● Ex: family, friends, celebrities, and experts
Psychological Influences
● Consumers have needs and wants that are driven by psychological
factors
● Ex: need for recognition, esteem, or sense of belonging
Cultural Influences
● Consumers are influenced by things they can connect to and are
familiar with
● Ex: Language, religion, and values
Personal Influence
● Consumer is influenced by his or her own needs and wants
● Ex: preferences, perceptions, and behavior
Why is consumer behavior so important?
● It is important because it helps businesses connect with their
customers and eventually make them into loyal customers, so their it
can grow.
● It also helps developing products and services for consumers
