likely share a target audience. Answer the questions in the “TARGET
AUDIENCE” section below for your artist’s audience based on research into
the well-known artist that you have identified.
 Young M.A
a. Potential research methods:
 Facebook Audience Insights
(https://www.facebook.com/ads/audience-insights/)
 Search the profile of the well-known artist you identified and
find a post with more than 50 engaged users (likes, comments,
reactions). Determine demographic and psychographic data
below from the “About” section of public profiles of the
engaged users.
TARGET AUDIENCE

6. Target Audience – Description
a. Condense the information that you have found above into a well-written
2-sentence description of your artist’s target audience.
Young MA target audiences are majority females of the LGBT
community ages ranging from 18-27 that have some of the most
common behavioral traits of lifestyle choices like motherhood and
hobbies. They are middle class trying to live a comfortable life by
shopping at stores like DTLR, Jimmy Jazz, Target, Fashionva for their
Nike clothing and Timberlands. They also love elegant restaurants like
RuthsChris, 3Forks and also fast-food restaurants like McDonalds,
Burger King and authentic Mexican restaurants. Her audience love
watching comedy movies, drama reality shows and action movies like
Deadpool. And these are movies and things that we all enjoy watching
and doing.
7. Target Audience- Geographic:
a. In what city is the artist based? List 5 cities within a 500-mile radius
that have niche-specific businesses, venues, schools, or other
organizations that would be frequented by the target audience you have
defined. Provide a reliable source for each of the 5 examples.
Hometown:
 City 1: Camden, NJ
1. Example and source: BB&T Pavilion that has been home
to some very hot talent in the industry. It seats about
7,000 seats and many greats like Rich the Kid, Chris
Brown, 6lack, H.E.R, French Montana and more have
blessed the stage with their presence. This venue if off the
Delaware venue and is a big tourist spot. Also, all ages are
able to enjoy live performances here which makes it
better for the artists.
 City 2: Passaic, NJ
1. Example and source: Mandala is one of the top voted
night clubs in NJ. They have some of the most known DJs
spinning at this location. They also have a diverse crowd
serving the Latino and African American community.
They also have LGBGT nights at this club and have had
celebrities’ hosts events. Also, they have Hip-Hop nights.
 City 3: Baltimore, MD
1. Example and source: Soundstage is a live music venue
that has had numerous artists in the music industry
perform on stage. Artists like Trina, Mac Miller, Jay Rock
and more have graced the stage with their music and
many shows are open to 21 and under also. Since Young
M.A audience starts at 18 this would be a great venue to
perform at.

 City 4: Philadelphia, PA
1. Example and source: FillmorePhilly is a live music venue
that has been able to attract a lot of diverse talent. They
have had artist like Drake, 6lack, and Pusha T in the
building. They also hold independent open mic events for
indie artists to showcase talent. They have a he is
following and was named best new music venue by
Philadelphia magazine. So, this would be great for my
artist. (https://www.instagram.com/fillmorephilly/)
 City 5: New York, NY
1. Example and source: Madison Square Garden is one of the
largest venue for concerts and entertainment. Many
artists have blessed the stage and sold out concert tour
tickets. Artists like Jay Z, Cardi B, Migos, Drake & Eminem
to name a few. If any artists can get the opportunity to
have their own set or open up for any artists within any
genre, this would be a big deal. This would bring growth
for that artist as well. Performing at MSG creates success
for artists period. (https://www.msg.com/madison-
square-garden/)
8. Provide at least two pictures of ideal members of the artist’s target audience.
Remember to consider psychographic information when choosing these
images.
GETTING TO KNOW THE ARTIST:
Discuss the questions sections below thoroughly with your group in regard to your
artist, then answer them in writing.
Choose at least 3 talents out of the list below that apply to your chosen artist
and write 4 sentences describing each talent. (Total of 12 sentences) Please
elaborate and provide specific details.
1. Singing /Rapping
Khemistry is a female Hip-Hop & R&B Rap artist from Chicago. She makes
music that talks about her life growing up, love and living a lifestyle of being
a female leader in the music industry. She also can write up-tempo tracks
that are for the club and radio. Her rhymes and cadence as an artist rapping
is shown to be relatable to MC Lyte and Queen Latifah.
2. Songwriting
Khemistry learned how to write music from growing up and writing poems.
She used to write poems to get her through the hard times as a kid growing
up and the things she had to witness. After she heard the sounds of MC Lyte
and Queen Latifah, she saw that rhythm and creative words could form
together and make a beautiful song. So, she started taking all the poems she
wrote and transitioned them to full length songs. Since this is something she
use to do every day, this easily became a hobby that turned to a career.
Having the ability to write music and piece what she was going through
together, allowed her to become a great songwriter. Khemistry has wrote
over 50 songs since 2015. Her creative lyrics has been a way she has been
compared to a legendary female artist that sounds like old school female rap.
3. Stage presence
Khemistry stage presence is definitely on point. This is not something she just
picked up and was good at. She struggled when she first started to perform in
front of a crowd. Her first show was at 12 and performed on live TV. She went
against numerous acts and took home the prize of the best stage performance
and best engaged song. Learning from that, she definitely now commands the
crowd attention. She jumps on and off stage and would get in your face to
express what she was saying in the song she performed. Khemistry starts off as
a laid-back performer but once she starts performing its nothing but hype and
excitement. Khemistry is definitely an animate and entertaining artist. When
saying something meaningful or catchy hooks you get nothing but facial
expressions showing aggression. You also get a lot of hand movements and
body language that carries over to the audience.
Choose at least 3 elements of experience that apply to your chosen artist and
write 4 sentences describing each element of experience. (Total of 12
sentences) Please elaborate and provide specific details.
1. Recording
Khemistry has been recording music since she was 13 years of age. She has
been able to build knowledge and expertise when it comes to producing and
being an engineer. She has recorded over 20 songs and most of them was
single releases and promo content. Two of her songs that are out are called
“Shame On U” and “Like Woah” which is her current hot single. She stats that
“When I’m in the booth recording, I record like I’m performing in front of an
audience”. This has given her the ability to have stage presence.
2. Touring/Booking Themselves
Khemistry has been able to book herself for shows within her hometown
Chicago. She has performed at Refuge, WildHare and plenty other bars and
clubs in Illinois. She also has been able to sign up for numerous websites that
will find her gigs around her genre. She has booked herself radio interviews
like WindyCityUnderground and UIC Radio. She also has done interviews in
other states like New Work and Ohio.
3. Publicity
Khemistry is not a stranger to getting some type of publicity. When she
releases music, she does it on Tunecore which distributes her music to over
50 music platforms. She also networks on IG and Twitter with numerous
bloggers, djs and podcasts in order to get some type of publicity with her
music. She tries whatever she can to get her music out to the fans. She also
goes to networking events in Chicago with her flyers and business cards so
that she can mingle with the right people to give her the boost she needs.
Khemistry also does a lot of promoting online and runs a lot of ads on
YouTube, Facebook and IG in order to grow her fan base. So, far it has
worked for her.
ARTIST SWOT ANALYSIS:
To evaluate your chosen artist, write 4 sentences describing each element of a
SWOT analysis. (Total of 16 sentences) Please provide a minimum of 2 specific
examples of each category and give specific details.
A. Strengths: Khemistry writes for other artists. This is a strength because it adds a
possible income stream to the business that can fund music videos and recording
sessions etc. It also cuts the costs of paying someone else to write for her. She also
has music and a video already recorded and released. This music can be re-released
to a broader audience.
B. Weaknesses: Social media presence is a big part of an artist’s promotion. It is the
best way to get attention. While Khemistry is on the three major social media
platforms (Facebook-291 followers, Instagram-1,351 followers and Twitter-292
followers), she needs a larger online presence. The artist is unsigned which means
the financial backing from a label is not there. Finances can hinder the artists goals
for paid promotion and recording in a professional studio.
C. Opportunities: One opportunity would be the A3C Hip Hop Festival in Atlanta,
Ga. This would be a good opportunity to get her music heard by commercial artists
like Talib Kweli and Wu-Tang Clan. Another opportunity would be performing at
local colleges and universities during their spirit week or homecoming. This would
help the artist become more well known in their home town. Some other
opportunities would be the KYS-Fest in Washington, DC and the 9th Atlanta Hip Hop
Day Festival on November of 2019. Khemistry should register with the American
Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). This would her to get her
name out there to business professionals as well as other artists in the industry.
Most artists are registered with them and they have a great reputation in the
industry. As far as stage performances, it would make sense to put her on a show
with the likes of Drake and Young Ma and maybe even Nicki Minaj to name a few.
Multiple streams of revenue are important to any career. I feel that Khemistry would
be a great fit to do endorsements for a shoe brand like Timberland, Converse or
Puma and Hennessy and Jack Daniels. These brands will appeal to her target
audience making her a great fit to represent them.
D. Threats: Possible threats for Khemistry could be an artist that comes along with
a similar sound. This artist could potentially pull focus from her and onto them.
Another threat could be if Khemistry doesn’t consistently put out new, fresh content
fans attention span may move to the next new artist or song. Consistent release of
some kind of music is crucial to the artists career.
ACTION ITEMS:
Read this article regarding potential revenue sources for an independent
artist: - http://ambitious.com/10-ways-to-make-money-as-a-musician-in-
a-world-of-digital-sales-and-streaming/
For each of the 2 strengths identified in the SWOT analysis, brainstorm a list of
3 potential revenue sources for the artist. (Total of 6)
STRENGTH 1 – Potential Revenue Sources
1. Being that Khemistry writes her own original music and creates original
music for others, she can create a source of revenue with her ghostwriting
skills that will translate into profits to pay for the fees to create new
material. By ghostwriting for other artists, she can collect royalties,
streams and publishing.
2. Khemistry can use a portion of her earnings from ghostwriting to buy and
sell merchandise at her shows. Agencies such as SME Live Entertainment
has had success in the past booking talent in Khemistry’s realm such as:
Nicki Minaj, Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino and B.O.B. to name a
few. Besides forming a personal connection with her audience through her
music, she can offer memorabilia, exclusive content or exclusive
experiences that they can cherish forever which will make them more like
to be loyal supporters.
3. Khemistry can also sign a publishing deal of her choice (co-publishing or
administration publishing deal) which she can elect to be compensated
with a flat rate or a salary. She could collect an advance or maintain the
rights and receive funds for the long haul.
STRENGTH 2 – Potential Revenue Sources
1. The fact that Khemistry has her own original music and video
content already recorded, she has several options to create revenue. She
can shop reference tracks to record labels or artists she may come in
contact with.
2. Khemistry can build her fan base to the point the revenue is coming in
from the various streaming platforms across the web for both video and
music streams as well as downloads.
3. Khemistry can also attempt to solicit promotion and sponsorship
groups/companies to have her original compositions played in
commercials, tv shows, movies or video games which will be an additional
stream of income rolling in. Based on her image and character, companies
such as Hennesssy, Remy Martin and Puma would be ideal suitable
potential sponsors/endorsers for Khemistry’s brand. A show such as Black
Ink Chicago would make good sense as a possible fit for Khemistry’s
music. In the past, they have gotten music from artists Belly, Logic,
Eminem and Phor.
For each of the 2 weaknesses identified in the SWOT analysis, brainstorm a list
of 2 potential ways to improve or fix the issue/circumstance. (Total of 4)
WEAKNESS 1 – Potential Solution
1. Being that Khemistry’s online presence is not that great, she can elect to
pay for PR and or marketing from a professional to run campaigns or
contests which will attract potential new fans to follower her engage with
her movement.
2. Khemistry can create a challenge to one of her recordings or hire a
famous influencer to participate in a challenge in attempt to make her
songs buzz grow stronger and possibly go viral which will spread
awareness to a broader audience.
WEAKNESS 2 – Potential Solution
1. To improve her financial standings, Khemistry can find and make a deal
with an investor to advance her money for career related expenses in
which she will repay once she recoups. An alternative that she can seek is
crowdfunding which was used by groups such as TLC when their fans
helped fund their final album and as a result they raised over $400,000.
2. Being that Khemistry is an unsigned artist, she can hire
representation/manager/agent to take care of non-music related affairs. As
an indie artist, it can’t be hard trying to balance a career along with all
business aspects. It’s always best to have someone that’s trust-worthy
and knowledgeable to control the daily operations.
Assignment 3-Goal Setting
Team Member Names:
 Janay Hall
 Terique Walker
 Lauren Dance
Artist:
 Khemistry
Create 1-Year, 6-Month, and 3-Month goals for each of the following pertaining to
your artist: content generation, potential revenue, and audience growth. Make sure
that goals follow the SMART principle (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant,
Time-bound). Please write in complete sentences.
1-Year Goals
1. Revenue Generating Goal:
a. Starting in May of 2019, I would like to begin organizing a 10-15 city
Midwest Fall/Back to School tour at venues such as Elbow Room, Vic
Theatre in Chicago, Saint Andrews Hall and Harpos Concert Theatre in
Detroit. This exposure can expand her audience by an immense
amount as well as revenue being that the stakes and payday will be
raised higher because this is a step up from her usual showcases.
b. I believe this time frame is attainable and realistic because my
team has already implemented an effective 6-month program that
focuses on Khemistry’s development as an artist along with the
emphasis on the growth of both her online and stage presence.
c. I will gauge and revisit Khemistry’s traction weekly
and evaluate the overall progress of this goal on June 21, 2019,
with a target tour start date of Friday, August 2, 2019. I
will determine if Khemistry is on track and ready based on how has
her audience grew since the conclusion of her 6-month goal period.
2. Content Creation Goal:
a. Starting Monday June 3, 2019 Khemistry will begin recording a 10
song EP which will consist of 10 original compositions that will be
released on all major platforms along with 3 videos for the
project. The recording process will consist of Khemistry creating
between 20-30 original songs and narrowing them down to the best
10 that fits the sequence of the project in entirety. The project turn in
deadline will be July 19, 2019 for preparation of official tour
announcement.
b. This time frame is attainable and realistic because there’s about a
month and a half to complete 20-30 songs. Granted her relentless
work ethic, this should not be an issue at all.
c. I will be present at as many sessions as possible to oversee the
recording process. However, I will review the overall progress of
this goal on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at our staff barbeque. We will
have an intimate group listening session with respected
ears amongst our core members and make assessments as well as
the decision to proceed with goal or not.
3. Audience Growth Goal:
a. Effective immediately, I will place emphasis on hiring PR for a period
of time to help target new streaming and downloading platform
opportunities such as: Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud etc. in efforts
to attract new fans and improve analytics. The PR agency that I’m
interested in hiring is Starlight PR. They work with major artists such
as Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Cardi B, Alessia Cara etc. At first thought, I
thought it would be unrealistic but after doing some research I
discovered that they provide starter package services for up and
coming talent. This gives Khemistry a strong chance to broaden her
fan base and tap into newer regions demographically.
b. I believe this time frame is attainable and realistic because it gives
Khemistry a full year to build upon what she’s already
established with world-class resources that will help boost her social
presence drastically compared to what she’s obtained during the
previous 6-month period.
c. I will gauge and review the progress of this goal on the first Friday
of every month which is known as new music Fridays throughout
the industry. By doing assessments on Friday’s, it gives me and the
team a great opportunity to track Khemistry’s
progress amongst the artists who would be considered her industry
peers. We will compare streams, downloads, the rates at which
they’re increasing and decreasing. We will track how her reach and
following is spreading demographically. All these things will be the
base of the deciding factor in whether we draw the conclusion
that Khemistry is on track to complete the goal in a timely fashion
or not.
6-Month Goals
1. Revenue Generating Goal:
a. I would want to set up a 6-city mini-tour. Khemistry could get on
some college campuses and into some smaller venues in those 10
cities and expand her audience. I would like to start in her home
town of Chicago then travel to NY, Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta, and
Miami. At this point, I think that more intimate venues like clubs
would be appropriate for Khemistry. For instance, in DC she could
do the Rock and Roll Hotel. It is an intimate standing room only
venue that is popular for up-and-coming artists and music lovers.
Also, The Fire in Philadelphia, The Village Underground in NY,
Apache Café in Atlanta, and Sidebar in Atlanta.
b. I believe this goal is attainable and realistic because she already
has some music out and will have time to create more content as
well Also, college students are the ones who are more susceptible
to giving anew artist a chance. Also, Khemistry has experience
performing in front of different size audiences as well as on camera
for music videos and this will mean less time to focus on preparing
her for the stage.
c. Periodic (weekly) check-ins on this project would be necessary but
at about 3 months out (February 15, 2019) I would make the
decision to go forward with the tour or not. If at that time, the
artist has not met the goal of new material and stage preparation
for the performances, there is no need in continuing with the
planning. The logistical side of things (venue, flights/transportation,
lodging, etc.) would need to be figured out prior to the check in
with the artist. If management has the logistics together and the
artist has the music together then we can move forward with the
goal of a successful mini-tour.
2. Content Creation Goal:
a. New music should be ready to be released within 6 months. A full
album would be great but at least 4 full tracks should be ready to
be released on an indie label or shopped to A&R execs.
b. Reasonable and attainable because the artist writes her own music.
While we can work with other writers and producers, the artist can
do much of this herself. Also, the artist has music recorded that
has not been released or can be re-released and work for the new
project and live performances/tours.
c. I would want to check on the progress of the new music in mid-
January to make sure that what is being done fits with what we are
trying to achieve as a team. I would then check on around the end
of March to make sure any issues with the work done thus far has
been changed.
3. Audience Growth Goal:
a. Boost views and follows on social media, specifically, Twitter.
Twitter is one of the most followed forms of social media and the
audience you reach there is much broader than what you may get
on Facebook or IG. The target audience is primarily millennials.
That demographic is heavy into social media and especially twitter.
I think that leaking clips of new music over an impromptu video,
something funny or conscience (politically or socially) would help.
It could be shot on her cell phone and uploaded to all of her social
media platforms and YouTube page.
b. I would want to work with a PR professional with a background in
social media to create the content necessary to grow the artists’
social media presence. The artist can introduce new music and
even glimpses into her life via video clips shot from her phone or
small camera these videos and music clips should help to boost
that online presence. Also, the launching of a website would help
with growing the artists audience and there will be a sign up on the
site and links on all social media, so that fans can get newsletters
about new releases and shows in their area. In 6 months, the right
PR person can grow our artists’ followers in a major way and I
would expect that the followship go from 1359 (Twitter) to about
15,000.
c. I will review the progress of this goal on March 1. If we are not
near the goal, we will take a look at where we are falling short and
revise the plan to meet the goal. If in one month (June) we are still
not where we need to be, we will revise the goal.
3-Month Goals
1. Revenue Generating Goal:
a. Set up a showcase throughout the month and have Khemistry as a
headliner, which she would sell tickets and other artists would sell
tickets as well. Khemistry would have a 10-artist lineup. This way
every artist can get at least a 10min set. This allows the audience
and judges to really get a feel of what the artists are about and
critique their craft. She would gain 50% of profits and in return the
artists she brings will get exposure. The showcase would be held at
Stage773 which is a theatre on the Northside of Chicago. This
Theatre has multiple size rooms and also a bar in the lobby. This
would create a more networking and club environment as well.
When liquor is available more guests tend to come.
b. I believe this timeframe is attainable because Khemistry already
receives a lot of inboxes and emails that she is a dope female
artist. So, she can easily choose artists for the showcase. This
makes it attainable because she has connections to the Stage773
venue that she can rent out that’s $35 an hour. If she books a
showcase from 7pm-11pm and has 10 artists per showcase, she
can make tickets be $10 each. Each artist would have to sell 10
tickets which totals $1,000. If Khemistry takes homes $500 and
splits the remaining balance with the artists, everyone wins. She
has a name in her hometown so artists would love to just open for
her no matter if they didn’t receive a cut of the revenue. But, what
we would do is the top 3 artists get a free feature from Khemistry
which is like a contest. This makes it more interesting and a
friendly competition and who does not like competing for
something that can benefit them.
c. I would track this over the course of 3 shows and see how much
revenue she makes with the showcase. If Khemistry has 2
successful shows by December 11th
and she would already be at
goal. All of this is definitely attainable because all she does is write
music and perform anyway.
2. Content Creation Goal:
a. Creating some behind the scenes footage of Khemistry free-styling
on original beats and also some of the hottest artists tracks that’s
out now. She also needs to do more interviews on some of the
hottest podcasts or indie radio stations in Chicago, Atlanta and New
York. The stations could be WindyCityUnderground in Chicago,
Be100radio in ATL and DTFRadio in New York. She could upload
these interviews on her social media platforms, that way she can
do promotions on those posts. Since Khemistry has a new music
video releasing between October 21-24 to her song “Like Woah”
this can be posted on her social medias as well. Newly releases
always are great ideas to gain more followers. Also, posting more a
day in a life video of Khemistry to give her artists a more personal
connection to her as an individual. While she is releasing this new
video content, she has to keep in mind to post promo photos as
well. Bloggers and radio stations can use these photos as ways to
promote she is coming on the station.
b. I believe this timeframe is attainable because Khemistry just did a
video shoot on Sunday, October 7 and behind the scene footage
she posted received high views. She also received a lot of friend
requests in that 1-2-day span of time because consumers love to
see videos more than pictures. They are more likely to watch a
video and click follow then see a picture and click follow. Till this
day if you look at her notifications people are still liking the videos
and hitting follow. This shows that customers love videos. They
love to see artists in action doing their craft. Also, because
Khemistry knows a lot of people and she has relationships with
stations already. So, calling them up or sending them an email to
do an interview and release new content is easy.
c. I would review the progress of this goal on November 11th
as well.
This gives the artist 30 days to be able to make a difference and
see the change. I will track the views of every video that’s posted
to see what videos the consumers love more. Whether it’s the
music videos, freestyle remix videos or Khemistry posting videos
being herself as an individual. Depending on which ones have the
most views, I would inform Khemistry to post more of those videos
that are attracting consumers more! Also, checking to see what
promo photos she post is being liked more and using those for
marketing purposes.
3. Audience Growth Goal:
a. Grow Khemistry audience to reach 3,000 followers on IG and 1,500
followers on Facebook. By placing her videos, promo pictures and
interviews on blog websites and having her current followers repost
the content then tag her name. This will help her to reach a
broader audience.
b. I feel this timeframe is attainable because consumers like and
follow what they can relate to. Khemistry already has random
followers on a day to day basis without even posting things on her
page. She also has friends and families that share her content on
their pages as well. Making sure her content is posted on some top
blog websites will also increase her views and she can use their fan
base to draw attention to her pages. Creating hashtags and having
her video reposted by her current followers is another reason why
this is attainable. She currently has 1,359 followers on IG and
needs 1.641 more to reach the goal. If she does about 600 a
month it’s definitely attainable. On her Facebook, she has 303
followers so, to reach the goal she needs to obtain 400 followers
over the next 3 months to reach the goal. Heavy promotions will do
the job.
c. November 11, 2018, is when I will track to see if Khemistry is on
track to meeting goal. This gives her 30 days of pushing these
strategies to see if they are working. If Khemistry reaches at least
800 new followers on IG and 600 on FB this will show she is half
way towards her goal on each platform. Making sure she is at least
making 100 possible new followers a week on these platforms is
key to see if she will hit goal within 30 days.

  • 7. GETTING TO KNOW THE ARTIST: Discuss the questions sections below thoroughly with your group in regard to your artist, then answer them in writing. Choose at least 3 talents out of the list below that apply to your chosen artist and write 4 sentences describing each talent. (Total of 12 sentences) Please elaborate and provide specific details. 1. Singing /Rapping Khemistry is a female Hip-Hop & R&B Rap artist from Chicago. She makes music that talks about her life growing up, love and living a lifestyle of being a female leader in the music industry. She also can write up-tempo tracks that are for the club and radio. Her rhymes and cadence as an artist rapping is shown to be relatable to MC Lyte and Queen Latifah. 2. Songwriting Khemistry learned how to write music from growing up and writing poems. She used to write poems to get her through the hard times as a kid growing up and the things she had to witness. After she heard the sounds of MC Lyte and Queen Latifah, she saw that rhythm and creative words could form together and make a beautiful song. So, she started taking all the poems she wrote and transitioned them to full length songs. Since this is something she use to do every day, this easily became a hobby that turned to a career. Having the ability to write music and piece what she was going through together, allowed her to become a great songwriter. Khemistry has wrote over 50 songs since 2015. Assignment 3-Goal Setting Team Member Names:  Janay Hall  Terique Walker  Lauren Dance Artist:  Khemistry Create 1-Year, 6-Month, and 3-Month goals for each of the following pertaining to your artist: content generation, potential revenue, and audience growth. Make sure that goals follow the SMART principle (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound). Please write in complete sentences. 1-Year Goals 1. Revenue Generating Goal: a. Starting in May of 2019, I would like to begin organizing a 10-15 city Midwest Fall/Back to School tour at venues such as Elbow Room, Vic Theatre in Chicago, Saint Andrews Hall and Harpos Concert Theatre in
  • 12. Detroit. This exposure can expand her audience by an immense amount as well as revenue being that the stakes and payday will be raised higher because this is a step up from her usual showcases. b. I believe this time frame is attainable and realistic because my team has already implemented an effective 6-month program that focuses on Khemistry’s development as an artist along with the emphasis on the growth of both her online and stage presence. c. I will gauge and revisit Khemistry’s traction weekly and evaluate the overall progress of this goal on June 21, 2019, with a target tour start date of Friday, August 2, 2019. I will determine if Khemistry is on track and ready based on how has her audience grew since the conclusion of her 6-month goal period. 2. Content Creation Goal: a. Starting Monday June 3, 2019 Khemistry will begin recording a 10 song EP which will consist of 10 original compositions that will be released on all major platforms along with 3 videos for the project. The recording process will consist of Khemistry creating between 20-30 original songs and narrowing them down to the best 10 that fits the sequence of the project in entirety. The project turn in deadline will be July 19, 2019 for preparation of official tour announcement. b. This time frame is attainable and realistic because there’s about a month and a half to complete 20-30 songs. Granted her relentless work ethic, this should not be an issue at all. c. I will be present at as many sessions as possible to oversee the recording process. However, I will review the overall progress of this goal on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at our staff barbeque. We will have an intimate group listening session with respected ears amongst our core members and make assessments as well as the decision to proceed with goal or not. 3. Audience Growth Goal: a. Effective immediately, I will place emphasis on hiring PR for a period of time to help target new streaming and downloading platform opportunities such as: Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud etc. in efforts to attract new fans and improve analytics. The PR agency that I’m interested in hiring is Starlight PR. They work with major artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Cardi B, Alessia Cara etc. At first thought, I thought it would be unrealistic but after doing some research I discovered that they provide starter package services for up and
  • 13. coming talent. This gives Khemistry a strong chance to broaden her fan base and tap into newer regions demographically. b. I believe this time frame is attainable and realistic because it gives Khemistry a full year to build upon what she’s already established with world-class resources that will help boost her social presence drastically compared to what she’s obtained during the previous 6-month period. c. I will gauge and review the progress of this goal on the first Friday of every month which is known as new music Fridays throughout the industry. By doing assessments on Friday’s, it gives me and the team a great opportunity to track Khemistry’s progress amongst the artists who would be considered her industry peers. We will compare streams, downloads, the rates at which they’re increasing and decreasing. We will track how her reach and following is spreading demographically. All these things will be the base of the deciding factor in whether we draw the conclusion that Khemistry is on track to complete the goal in a timely fashion or not. 6-Month Goals 1. Revenue Generating Goal: a. I would want to set up a 6-city mini-tour. Khemistry could get on some college campuses and into some smaller venues in those 10 cities and expand her audience. I would like to start in her home town of Chicago then travel to NY, Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta, and Miami. At this point, I think that more intimate venues like clubs would be appropriate for Khemistry. For instance, in DC she could do the Rock and Roll Hotel. It is an intimate standing room only venue that is popular for up-and-coming artists and music lovers. Also, The Fire in Philadelphia, The Village Underground in NY, Apache Café in Atlanta, and Sidebar in Atlanta. b. I believe this goal is attainable and realistic because she already has some music out and will have time to create more content as well Also, college students are the ones who are more susceptible to giving anew artist a chance. Also, Khemistry has experience performing in front of different size audiences as well as on camera for music videos and this will mean less time to focus on preparing her for the stage. c. Periodic (weekly) check-ins on this project would be necessary but at about 3 months out (February 15, 2019) I would make the decision to go forward with the tour or not. If at that time, the artist has not met the goal of new material and stage preparation for the performances, there is no need in continuing with the
  • 14. planning. The logistical side of things (venue, flights/transportation, lodging, etc.) would need to be figured out prior to the check in with the artist. If management has the logistics together and the artist has the music together then we can move forward with the goal of a successful mini-tour. 2. Content Creation Goal: a. New music should be ready to be released within 6 months. A full album would be great but at least 4 full tracks should be ready to be released on an indie label or shopped to A&R execs. b. Reasonable and attainable because the artist writes her own music. While we can work with other writers and producers, the artist can do much of this herself. Also, the artist has music recorded that has not been released or can be re-released and work for the new project and live performances/tours. c. I would want to check on the progress of the new music in mid- January to make sure that what is being done fits with what we are trying to achieve as a team. I would then check on around the end of March to make sure any issues with the work done thus far has been changed. 3. Audience Growth Goal: a. Boost views and follows on social media, specifically, Twitter. Twitter is one of the most followed forms of social media and the audience you reach there is much broader than what you may get on Facebook or IG. The target audience is primarily millennials. That demographic is heavy into social media and especially twitter. I think that leaking clips of new music over an impromptu video, something funny or conscience (politically or socially) would help. It could be shot on her cell phone and uploaded to all of her social media platforms and YouTube page. b. I would want to work with a PR professional with a background in social media to create the content necessary to grow the artists’ social media presence. The artist can introduce new music and even glimpses into her life via video clips shot from her phone or small camera these videos and music clips should help to boost that online presence. Also, the launching of a website would help with growing the artists audience and there will be a sign up on the site and links on all social media, so that fans can get newsletters about new releases and shows in their area. In 6 months, the right PR person can grow our artists’ followers in a major way and I would expect that the followship go from 1359 (Twitter) to about
  • 15. 15,000. c. I will review the progress of this goal on March 1. If we are not near the goal, we will take a look at where we are falling short and revise the plan to meet the goal. If in one month (June) we are still not where we need to be, we will revise the goal. 3-Month Goals 1. Revenue Generating Goal: a. Set up a showcase throughout the month and have Khemistry as a headliner, which she would sell tickets and other artists would sell tickets as well. Khemistry would have a 10-artist lineup. This way every artist can get at least a 10min set. This allows the audience and judges to really get a feel of what the artists are about and critique their craft. She would gain 50% of profits and in return the artists she brings will get exposure. The showcase would be held at Stage773 which is a theatre on the Northside of Chicago. This Theatre has multiple size rooms and also a bar in the lobby. This would create a more networking and club environment as well. When liquor is available more guests tend to come. b. I believe this timeframe is attainable because Khemistry already receives a lot of inboxes and emails that she is a dope female artist. So, she can easily choose artists for the showcase. This makes it attainable because she has connections to the Stage773 venue that she can rent out that’s $35 an hour. If she books a showcase from 7pm-11pm and has 10 artists per showcase, she can make tickets be $10 each. Each artist would have to sell 10 tickets which totals $1,000. If Khemistry takes homes $500 and splits the remaining balance with the artists, everyone wins. She has a name in her hometown so artists would love to just open for her no matter if they didn’t receive a cut of the revenue. But, what we would do is the top 3 artists get a free feature from Khemistry which is like a contest. This makes it more interesting and a friendly competition and who does not like competing for something that can benefit them. c. I would track this over the course of 3 shows and see how much revenue she makes with the showcase. If Khemistry has 2 successful shows by December 11th and she would already be at goal. All of this is definitely attainable because all she does is write music and perform anyway. 2. Content Creation Goal: a. Creating some behind the scenes footage of Khemistry free-styling on original beats and also some of the hottest artists tracks that’s out now. She also needs to do more interviews on some of the
  • 16. hottest podcasts or indie radio stations in Chicago, Atlanta and New York. The stations could be WindyCityUnderground in Chicago, Be100radio in ATL and DTFRadio in New York. She could upload these interviews on her social media platforms, that way she can do promotions on those posts. Since Khemistry has a new music video releasing between October 21-24 to her song “Like Woah” this can be posted on her social medias as well. Newly releases always are great ideas to gain more followers. Also, posting more a day in a life video of Khemistry to give her artists a more personal connection to her as an individual. While she is releasing this new video content, she has to keep in mind to post promo photos as well. Bloggers and radio stations can use these photos as ways to promote she is coming on the station. b. I believe this timeframe is attainable because Khemistry just did a video shoot on Sunday, October 7 and behind the scene footage she posted received high views. She also received a lot of friend requests in that 1-2-day span of time because consumers love to see videos more than pictures. They are more likely to watch a video and click follow then see a picture and click follow. Till this day if you look at her notifications people are still liking the videos and hitting follow. This shows that customers love videos. They love to see artists in action doing their craft. Also, because Khemistry knows a lot of people and she has relationships with stations already. So, calling them up or sending them an email to do an interview and release new content is easy. c. I would review the progress of this goal on November 11th as well. This gives the artist 30 days to be able to make a difference and see the change. I will track the views of every video that’s posted to see what videos the consumers love more. Whether it’s the music videos, freestyle remix videos or Khemistry posting videos being herself as an individual. Depending on which ones have the most views, I would inform Khemistry to post more of those videos that are attracting consumers more! Also, checking to see what promo photos she post is being liked more and using those for marketing purposes. 3. Audience Growth Goal: a. Grow Khemistry audience to reach 3,000 followers on IG and 1,500 followers on Facebook. By placing her videos, promo pictures and interviews on blog websites and having her current followers repost the content then tag her name. This will help her to reach a broader audience. b. I feel this timeframe is attainable because consumers like and follow what they can relate to. Khemistry already has random followers on a day to day basis without even posting things on her page. She also has friends and families that share her content on their pages as well. Making sure her content is posted on some top
  • 17. blog websites will also increase her views and she can use their fan base to draw attention to her pages. Creating hashtags and having her video reposted by her current followers is another reason why this is attainable. She currently has 1,359 followers on IG and needs 1.641 more to reach the goal. If she does about 600 a month it’s definitely attainable. On her Facebook, she has 303 followers so, to reach the goal she needs to obtain 400 followers over the next 3 months to reach the goal. Heavy promotions will do the job. c. November 11, 2018, is when I will track to see if Khemistry is on track to meeting goal. This gives her 30 days of pushing these strategies to see if they are working. If Khemistry reaches at least 800 new followers on IG and 600 on FB this will show she is half way towards her goal on each platform. Making sure she is at least making 100 possible new followers a week on these platforms is key to see if she will hit goal within 30 days.
