3. mission
To grow a family of
disciples that proclaims the
Gospel, walks in the Spirit,
and loves the Pearl
District, Portland, and
Beyond.
vision
Our vision revolves around
family, transformation, and
multiplication:
Family: Reflect God's love for
us to each other.
Transform: To see people go
from dead in sin to life in
Jesus and continue to be
sanctified.
Multiply: Challenge people to
fulfill their role in the Great
Commission and live life on
mission through intentional
discipleship.

7. the gospel compels us to go
In each of the four Gospels and
in Acts, there is a Great
Commission to go and make
disciples. As believers, we
cannot neglect this calling and
must take seriously our role
that God has given us in
spreading the good news of his
Gospel. Lives cannot be changed
nor the Pearl District be
redeemed and transformed
without the presence of the
Gospel.
Matthew 28:18-20 Romans 15:20-21
Romans 10:14-15
there is a need for
dependency on jesus christ
The Gospel communicates that
salvation and eternal life
cannot be found outside of
total dependency on the work of
Christ. In a world in which
self-sufficiency is praised,
the idea of dependency on
something other than self is a
foreign idea. The implantation
of the Gospel into this type of
environment will shed light on
the desperate need that people
yet do not know they have.
Mark 8:35-37 John 14:6
why plant a church in the
pearl?
8. biblical family is needed in
the pearl
Though this is an up-and-coming
part of the city of Portland,
the residents of the Pearl have
a false sense of community or
try to avoid community
altogether by seeking
isolation. In keeping with the
nature of how God’s story has
been written, a church that is
planted in the Pearl needs to
function as a family that is
rooted in the Gospel. The Pearl
district is filled with needs
that are being met by
perishable means. The remedy
for this need can only be found
in a saving RELATIONSHIP with
the Son, who is the head, and
sustained through an edifying
relationship with His people,
the body.
Acts 2:42-47 Ephesians 4:15-16
the pearl is a prime place for
the intersection of the gospel
God is reconciling the world
back to Himself; in doing so,
He has invited us to share in
His work through this “ministry
of reconciliation.” The Pearl,
a place that was once an
industrial hub has become a
place where people are now
flocking to live. If God is
bringing people together, it is
prime opportunity to partake in
ministry and bring people to
Him.
Titus 2:11-14 2 Corinthians 5:17-19
