3. Addition
Addition is when you add numbers together. The plus
sign (+) is used to let you know you need to add.

Examples: 2+3=5
5+2=7
2 hats + 1 hat = 3 hats

Subtraction is when you take away
from the given number. The minus sign
(-) is used to denote this. Let’s watch
some strategies you can use to
subtract
Examples:6-4=2
5-3=2
3 apples – 1 apple = 2 apples

Fact families are groups of numbers that
are related to each other and can be
combined to make addition and
subtraction facts. Let’s watch how a fact
family works through this song! Click on
the smiley face to hear the song.
