As men age, the prostate grows bigger as
the years pass by- and this begins
around age 25.

Pharmaceuticals most commonly prescribed for
BPH/ED are Alpha Blockers- aka Flomax.
Alpha Blockers are vaso-dilators. They relax
muscles in bladder/prostate, which makes it easier

Side effects include dizziness, drowsiness,
headache, sleep problems, and abnormal
ejaculation.
Affects eyes, mustn’t take if you have kidney/liver
disease, or prostate cancer.

Nitric oxide is made by the blood vessels’ lining,
or endothelium. The endothelium is sensitive to
conditions inside our blood vessels and makes/decreases
NO accordingly.

Viagra and other drugs that reduce erectile dysfunction
work on the nitric oxide pathway.

Nettle root has a promising antifungal effect.

It is a gradual-acting nutritive herb that gently cleanses the

The German Commission E and ESCOP (European Scientific

Saw Palmetto’s strong suit for microbial burden is antibacterial/anti-
fungal.
Saw Palmetto inhibits biofilm formation by Staphylococcus aureus,
Escherichia coli and Candida albicans. Source of lauric acid and beta
sitosterol.
Saw palmetto can shrink the inner lining of the prostate, which can exert
pressure on the bladder and create the urge to urinate.

PDE5 is an enzyme in the walls of blood vessels. It affects
blood flow and how cells signal within the body. PDE5 inhibitors
block the PDE5 enzyme to prevent it from working. This inhibition
relaxes the blood vessels and increases blood

Saw palmetto reportedly blocks response of prostate cells to
prolactin. Minor elevations of prolactin produced significant
changes at the prostate epithelium that could account for
triggering the development of hyperplasia or cancer.
Minute elevations of serum prolactin are suspected to be the
cause of abnormal prostate growth. DHT causes pathological
prostate growth and may be increased by > estrogen / prolactin.

Saw palmetto reportedly inhibits 5-lipoxygenase- (enzyme
that converts arachidonic acid to the eicosanoid, 5-HETE)
known to stimulate the growth of prostate cancer cells.
For low testosterone, you’d want to rule out Estrogen and
Prolactin dominance, low DHEA, and BPH or prostate
issues. Prolactin suppresses LH in men, which also
suppresses testosterone.

Saw Palmetto-source of Beta-sitosterol is most
commonly used for lowering cholesterol levels and
improving symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign
prostatic hyperplasia or BPH).

Crataeva Nurvala & Microbial Burden
Regarding prostate, Crataeva nurvala strong suit is
anti-bacterial, especially Escherichia coli infections in
the urinary tract. Especially useful in cases of antibiotic
resistance.

concentrations of lupeol (anti-inflammatory, anti-
microbial, anti-protozoal), is found in the highest
concentrations in the stem bark.

anthelmintic, antidiabetic, antidepressant,

cytoprotective. Furthermore, these
bioactives carry potential in ameliorating
microbiological infections, hepatic and
prostate disorders.

One study found that a pumpkin seed
extract used for three months in 53 men
ages 50 to 80 years old increased
urinary flow volume (urine stream) by 40
percent and decreased nighttime urinary
frequency 30 percent, compared with
those on placebo.

Pumpkin seeds appear to be remarkably
effective in treating overactive bladder, a
condition that causes a sudden urge to
urinate and can sometimes result in mild
urinary incontinence.

Phytochemicals in pumpkin seeds may
reduce the effects of DHT on the
prostate.. Rich in zinc. A normal prostate
has the highest levels of zinc in the body.

Results of a 2011 study Trusted Source
showed that malignant prostate tissue
and prostate tissue from men with BPH
had significantly less zinc than normal
prostate tissue. The study also found an
