What is Diabetes?
It is a disease in which the blood sugar level rises and cause many problems for the patient.
Insulin is known as blood sugar. It is produced in the pancreas. It maintains the sugar level of
the body at average.
If the insulin is not present or is in low amounts, then the sugar level increases and causes a
disease known as Diabetes.
Role of insulin in Diabetes
Insulin plays a significant role in maintaining blood sugar. If it fails to do so, the sugar level rises
and causes diabetes.
Insulin performs two major functions in the body:
1. It regulates the sugar level
2. It converts the extra glucose into energy.
What happens in diabetes?
When the pancreas fails to produce insulin, the first thing that happens is that the sugar level
disrupts. If it goes up then goes up and up. It goes low then keeps lowing. So, in both
conditions, it is life-threatening.
Know the sugar level is high due to the absence of insulin. The other thing that happens is that
excess glucose is not converted into energy. It starts accumulating. So, sugar level increases.
Excess of everything is bad. Now it starts affecting the other organs of the body.
Types of Diabetes
There are three types of diabetes.

3. Gestational
Type 1
It is a lite version of diabetes. It usually happens in adults and children. In this, either the
pancreas makes no insulin or it makes then in a small amount. Which is not enough to maintain
a sugar level.
Type 2
This is the most common type of diabetes. Almost 90% of the patients are diagnosed with type
2 diabetes. In this, the body becomes unable to produce or use the synthesized insulin properly.
This can be controlled by changing the lifestyle or by getting insulin injections.

Gestational
It is a type of diabetes that happens in a specific time period. It happens during pregnancy. It
goes away on its own after the pregnancy is gone. Still, the chances of getting diabetes for both
mother and baby remain.

The main symptoms of diabetes are given below:

● Getting hungry again and again.
● Thirst increase.
● Going to urinate more often.
● Weight loss

Yes, diabetes can kill you. If the level of sugar increases in the blood beyond the level then it will
cause ultimate death.

diabetes.
