Les Pecheurs Madagascar
Micro-Enterprise Training Program
Visits to the businesses of Candidates who
have graduated from the Les Pêcheurs
Training Program.
Visit to Alice
Alice is a yogurt producer. With the money she has received from LPM, she bought
an aluminum pot to prepare the milk, some plastics pots and glasses for the yogurt
and some spoons and of course, the raw materials.
Here are some samples of her
yogurt products.
When we visited her business there were only 6 pots of yoghurt left because she had
just delivered her orders. She is a little bit shy but she is very happy. Here are some
more pictures:
The milk in the pot.
Alice and her little milk factory
Visit to BODO
Bodo is a cake producer. Here are the pictures of her at her business.
Here is the oven and some
moulds she bought with the
funds from LPM.
At the moment, she is facing a
challenge because she had to move
her business to another location. The
new location is quite a distance from
the main road and the main village.
So, she has some trouble at the
moment finding new costumers.
Visit to ENIKAZARA
This lady is a pillow manufacturer. She purchased a sewing machine with the money
she received form LPM. She always has a big smile.
Some samples of her products.
ENIKAZARA is using all of the
knowledge and skills she gained
from our program and her
business is doing extremely well.
She is doing a wonderful job.
Visit to FANJA
.
We can see from these pictures that the
money we have given her has enabled
her to add more variety of vegetables to
her shelves and so increased her
turnover.
Fanja is a vegetable reseller. As can
be seen in these pictures she sells
produce such as potatoes,
cucumbers, salads, leeks, tomatoes,
carrots, green peppers, green beans,
garlic, lemon…
In general, she said that by around 4
pm each day all these vegetables are
sold. So, she is very confident about
the future.
Visit to LALATIANA
This lady is dealing with silk manufacturer. She produces different kinds of silk
products. When we arrived at her business, she was busy weaving and it was
amazing to see her skill.
On the day we visited her business she was making scarves and these pictures
show some examples of her work. She also makes tablecloths.
She is running her business well, so, in general, she is not facing any challenges.
However, the challenge for us was to find her business. Fortunately we finally found
it.
Visit to LOUISETTE
Louisette’s business is pig farming. At the moment, has used all of the funds we gave
her to buy one pig. The reason why we planned the visit for this day was that she
was going to sell the pig the following week.
As we can see, this pig is very big and it weighs
more than 100 Kg
Visit to MAMISOA
Mamisoa’s business is Taxi Phone. It consists of giving a service to people who
don’t have a cell phone or don’t have enough money to buy a credit card but need
to make a call. In other words, these people come to her to make a call. In general,
the rule is that a 40 second all costs 100 Ariary (AUD $0.05).
The table, the umbrella, the little
shelf, the phones…have been
bought with the money that she
has received from LPM.
It is a modest business but she is
really happy because of our help.
Previously she did not have any
money to start a business.
The challenge she is currently facing is to find a more crowded place where
there is less competition than in her current location.
Visit to MARIETTE
This lady is a fruit reseller. Before she attended the LPM course she sold only lemons.
Now she sells different kinds of fruit and also bread and has started up a second stall
using the money which she received from LPM.
Here is the new stall which she has
established.
Visit to VOAHIRANA
Voahirana is a cake producer. She was cooking when we arrived at her business.
In general, all the cakes that she
produces are totally sold, which is very
good as she receives many orders and
her business is now growing.
Visit to Rija’s Workshop
Rija recovers second hand timber
and uses it to manufacture furniture.
Here he is in his workshop with the
machine he purchased with the
funds provided by LPM. He can sell
everything he produces.
Visit to Fara
Fara is a women’s and children’s
clothing manufacturer. She has used
the funds from LPM to purchase
sewing machines and she now
employs two people from her Village
to help produce the garments.
Fara’s comment to me was
“This has changed my life.”
Les Pecheurs Madagascar

Attending the Training of Candidates in the
Third Intake
(this is currently in process)
Training Candidates on how to deal with Bank Managers and other officials
Candidates are required to explain their business concept to their colleagues.
This Candidate plans to set up an English Speaking Primary School.
There is a good cross section of Madagascan society amongst the Candidates.
Two of our leaders interviewing a Candidate and answering her questions.
This was hilarious !!! One of the Candidates acting as the Bank Manager and he did it
so well !!!!
Les Pecheurs Madagascar
Micro-Enterprise Training Program
A visit to the Training Centre by two policemen who provided emergency
transport to the airport for Mr Fuller on his previous visit.
One of the policemen plays
Rugby Union and he asked if Mr
Fuller could get him a Wallabies
shirt !! Here he is receiving it.
Les Pecheurs Madagascar
Andriampamaky Village Project
Update on the
November – December 2014
An Overview of the Project
The decision to become involved in the project evolved from a series of visits to
Andriampamaky by representatives of Les Pêcheurs Internationale and Les Pêcheurs
Madagascar and meetings with the leaders and other representatives of the
Andriampamaky community.
Why Andriampamaky?
We chose to work with this village for a number of reasons but primarily because:
It is at the crossroads of many other villages in the region.
It is a microcosm of life and circumstances in Madagascar.
The people, and the village leaders, are keen to break free from the current desperate
circumstances they have in their village.
We have met with the leaders of the Village and they are excited about the project.
The Objective
The objective for this project is to make Andriampamaky a “model village” in Madagascar.
We believe that if we can achieve this then other villages across Madagascar will be
inspired to emulate what has been done in Andriampamaky.
An Overview of the Project
The Elements of the Project
This Project now consists of 6 elements as follows:
• Medical Clinic Project
• Health Education Project
• Water Supply Project
• Economic Development Project
• Education Facilities and Services Project
• Community Welfare Project
Progress to Date
• The Medical Clinic
Funding has been received from a generous sponsor for this facility and we are in the
process of calling for tenders for the construction of it.
• Health Education Project
Sadly, this community, like virtually every other community in Madagascar is suffering
from severe food and water-borne diseases as well as many sociological ills. We believe
that it is important that our program focuses on preventative measures as well as
providing cures and treatment through the Medical Clinic. This Project is in progress in
consultation with the Community Leaders and School Principals.
An Overview of the Project
• Water Supply Project
A very generous and experienced sponsor is assisting us with the funding and the
technical expertise needed to provide the Community with a sustainable supply of
clean water.
• Economic Development Project
Some farm land has been made available for us to show local farmers how they can
benefit from larger scale farming and the introduction of new varieties of crops and
produce. We are seeking appropriately skilled farmers in Australia or other countries
who are willing to assist us in this undertaking.
• Education Facilities and Services Project
We have a Program to provide the existing schools with a range of equipment and
learning resources which can assist teachers and students to achieve better educational
outcomes. We have also found a generous sponsor to assist with this Project.
We also have commenced a Careers Guidance Program for all youth in the Village and
this is being done in consultation in the schools.
• Community Welfare Project
This Project consists of a variety of elements all of which are designed to develop
greater cohesion amongst the Community and to enrich their lives through greater
opportunities for recreational and community activities.
We are currently preparing plans ,and have the funding, for a Sports Field.
