1. Jillian married Mitch Meaney in May (what fun for us!), and she now is in first year
law school at UF in Gainesville FL, while Mitch works in nearby Ocala! Both had
to break leases here to make the move, and God was great in drastically cutting
these possible costs! Bless His Name!
Shelley and me: We celebrated our 37th Anniversary August 6, and have contin-
ued as Northland’s Marriage Prep couple mentors...supporting couples about to
enter this adventure. Two couples we mentored allowed us to be at their wed-
dings this last Spring! ( : This summer we could not join family and friends in
Spokane. ) :
Kelly is preparing to head back to Brazil long-term for WA at AMMI (a training
center for pastors and translators) in Chapada, near Cuiaba, Brazil. She hopes to
be there in December.
Lynsei and Garrett are both currently working, Lynz now is full time at Siemens
here. This means Alexis will spend some time in daycare/preschool. Nick is also
back in school as well when you get this, 2nd grade. What a blessing they are!

DEHRADUN, India
Structural framing for the ILL Residence Center is well
under way in Dehradun, on a hillside site prone to ero-
sion during monsoons. Run-off control channels were
done first and are working well now, the rainy season.
When finished, the space in the foreground (right) will
be the high-ceilinged dining hall. Soon, much-needed
on-campus housing for the many remote Himalayan
villagers seeking training to translate the Bible into their
own language will be available. What an honor to par-
ticipate in this!
In July, WA leaders announced
new directions, essentially putting
us directly in to Bible translation.
Church planting globally is mushrooming, and we will now work with church planters and their local pastors/churches so CHURCH-
ES can do their own high quality translations. This is possible with a new application for phones or tablets that will help locals modify
non-copy-written Scripture (in one of 50 “base” languages) into their native language, and does not require internet. We will provide
the base translations, hardware and training, alongside national translation organizations. Translation time and costs may be about
5% of traditional means!! Now people who want the Bible (and beyond) in their own language can have it without waiting for oth-
ers to fund and staff this effort. We provide a wide variety of support to translators now, so the impact of this expansion in translators,
churches involved, and translations could be tremendous.
One immediate need is for efficient publishing, since 90% of those in need of a readable Bible do not have Internet, computers or
phones for reading. We have added “Print on Demand” to have in-house experts evaluate publishing equipment and ship it out of
Orlando for use in harsh climates, where the translations can reach their people immediately after excellent translations are finished.
Part of our Volunteer Support Center is being built out now to handle this. All of this is A VERY BIG Deal!

Cameroon is a nation with hundreds of language groups
still without the Bible, and Bible translation here has been
a busy program for many years. We planned the new
Bamenda Training Center a few years ago. Now major
classrooms need detailed construction plans so these can
be built later this year (right). Also, in the country’s far
north, another smaller training center is about to get un-
der way in the regional capital of Maroua. This is a risky
place near NE Nigeria, where Boko Haram terrorists are
attacking towns, kidnapping children, and more. Local
leaders long for their people to have Christian influence
for lasting peace, so Bible translation here is desperately
vital.
Work CONTINUES in Cameroon
John. I have the privilege of having a seasoned guy named John
Amdahl doing virtually all the CAD work for us. He is an Ameri-
can, and served the Bible translation programs overseas many
years as a surveyor out of Darwin, Australia. He and his wife, An-
nette, have been here ten years and he is self-taught in AutoCAD,
an extremely robust technical program for developing construc-
tion drawings. He does all that very well, and with much patience
and grace towards me, his scattered supervisor. Pray for them,
will you? They are a huge blessing!
Armenia. A shell (floor and exterior walls—no roof) sits on a site in
Yerevan, the capital, on a humble campus dedicated to Bible
translation throughout central Asia. We are developing plans to
add a second floor, and create a dorm for students in training
there. It will include day space and a teaching area in addition to
sleeping quarters. More to come.
Yajasi Aviation, Sentani Indonesia. We have been asked to help
these jungle mission pilots figure out how to get a tower fabricat-
ed and installed. Sounds easy, but sizing and fabricating the truss
members, connectors, and footings from what is locally available
is not quick or easy, and shipping in kits from Australia or the
US is costly. It is a riddle… But here is what they do:
Standards of Practice. Recently other architects and planners
have joined WA but under regional leadership, not under me.
So I have asked them and others to collaborate on setting
standards and values for what we all do, and how we relate
to those we serve. These will provide a basis for Design Re-
views of our projects, a way to establish a consistent level of
quality. The standards are so different because of where pro-
jects occur. The needs to relate to local cultures, materials,
weather conditions, energy conservation and costs require
both skills and dependence on the Lord for wisdom and in-
sights. What an honor to serve the Children of the King!
