5. American Seating has a long history of innovation dating
back 130 years. Originally founded by businessmen in 1886
who believed that environment influences behavior, and that
there could be a more comfortable way for students to learn
rather than sitting on rough plank benches at wooden slat
tables.
When the very first student desks were invented and sold
to schools in the latter part of the 19th century, our name
was on them. And we’re still here, doing what we do best—
creating forward thinking solutions in the educational
furniture industry for Colleges and Universities all over the
U.S. and internationally.
We’ve come a long way from those early days of the classic
desk/seat combo that became an icon in American education
