1. Passer-by’s help a poorly lamb.
Resident of Stalybridge, Sarah Thomas, spotted the lamb on Tuesday 14th
May whilst dog walking
and noticed that it was poorly.
The following day, she re visited the Dovestones farm, with her partner, Lee Chadwick.
Seeing that the lamb was still there, they rang the RSPCA in order to get help. The RSPCA claimed
they couldn’t find the lamb when they went to the farm, so Lee decided to go and save it himself.
The farmer advised the couple that it would be a bad idea and should let nature takes it course and let
it die in the field.
Still wanting to save the lamb, Lee took the lamb to a friend’s farm and let it rest in a stable with fresh
hay.
He nursed it through the night, even sat beside it with his laptop doing his work.
The RSPCA said there was nothing they could do. Mr Chadwick rang an emergency vet from
Huddersfield and paid £100 to come and help the lamb.
The vet that it had insect bites in its joints which had seriously spread and it couldn’t be saved.
The vet said that if the farmer had rang a vet sooner it would have been given an anti-biotic and been
saved.
They buried it on the pet cemetery at their friend’s farm.
Sarah stated : “Lee was really upset, he adored it and even nicknamed it after himself”
“It was more humane than seeing it die”
