2. The Visual Texture Collection
The objective of the Visual Texture collection is to both reflect the classic Conran
design ethos, and showcase ege’s unique technology and exceptional service. This
has been achieved in the creation of a range with what we feel offers real visual
depth & texture. Offering immense flexibility and breadth, the collection includes
highlight features, borders, corridor and runner solutions as standard for almost all
the designs offered. Inspirational, aspirational, original and practical are the core
qualities we aimed to engender.
Designed in London by Conran & Partners, and manufactured in Denmark by ege,
the collaboration has allowed a rare freedom in the design of floor covering. After
meeting ege’s technologists and understanding the vast possibilities allowed by
working with such innovative manufacturing techniques, the Conran design team
set out to meticulously research the process of digital dying with the desire to really
explore the opportunities the technology offers.
The needs and wants of users and specifiers were investigated, including
consultations with several leading interior designers and key personnel from the
hotel and restaurant industry. As expected, there were many differing opinions on
stylistic design but one fundamental commonality; that it is imperative to consider the
practical issues, such as wear and ease of cleaning, as part of the design process
to ensure that the inspirational designs keep their freshness.
The specially developed Colour Shades have allowed us the freedom to design a
broad & eclectic range with a multitude of inspirations, ranging from nature to 20th
century art. For special projects the designs can be scaled and customised to suit
a client’s specific need based on the size, shape and style of their application. We
have carefully considered all areas of usage, from dining and reception through to
corridors and bedrooms to ensure all aspects of the specifier’s requirements are met.
And the ege team have been a joy to work with and deserve a huge amount of
credit for all the hard work and commitment they have given the project.

11. Evoking the strength and linearity of a bamboo forest, this
is a particularly useful design to emphasise direction or
increase the sense of width or length in a space.
The hand-drawn quality of the lines and soft structuring
of the colours temper the overall effect, producing a

Star map is a lively, vivid pattern with a truly cosmic,
almost ‘Brownian’ motion. Inspired by constellations of
celestial bodies, it reflects the depth and complexity seen

In order to maximise the delicate colour harmonies and the rich textured look of the Visual
Texture collection, ege has developed a brand new set of blended colours, the Colour
Shades, for each of our standard colour keys: K5220, K5275, K5285 and K5295.
ege Colour Shades is based on micropatterns, which mix our basic colours with the
well-known accent colours. This mix creates visual colour effects with different structures
according to the colours used. The mix contains minimum 60% basic colours, which is
why ege Colour Shades can be used in large areas.
• The Visual Texture collection can be recoloured as usual with basic and accent
colours, from the standard colour keys.
• ege Colour Shades can be used in addition to the basic and the accent colours
shown on the standard colour keys and are only available for use in the Visual
Texture design collection.
• ege Colour Shades can be used in any part of the design, even as ground or
background colours in relevant designs.
• For larger areas approximately 0.5 m² or more, ege Colour Shades will take on
an even richer texture.
• ege Colour Shades are not intended for use as plain carpets.
• ege Colour Shades are available for each of our standard colour keys.
Example: P75xxx relates to the standard colour key K5275 and so forth.
(Q75xxx is the richer texture of P75xxx)
To assist with your colour selection you can obtain samples of ‘Colour Shades’ from ege.
These are available as 1 x 1 m sample pieces which show all the ‘Colour Shades’ in
carpet format. One set of ‘Colour Shades’ is available for each of our standard keys and
also on each of our carpet qualities except Highline 630.
These samples can be ordered directly via your normal ege contact person.
Visual Texture by Conran & Partners offers the widest colour selection of any ege
collection launched so far. It is advisable to utilise the ege field design services to assist
you with any recolourations of this collection, simply contact your local ege office for help.
We always recommend a 1 x 1 meter sample of your chosen design, so you can
