Onlytwocharactersarefeaturedwithinourfilm‘Delirium’;AdamandThe
psychiatrist.Thisallowsustofocusonusingcostumesinordertoportraycertain
themesandaspectstotheaudience.
Inordertounderstandtheusualappearance andcostumesofapsychiatrist,I
lookedat‘SilverLinings’.Duetothestrongthemessurroundingmentalhealth,i
feelthatthecomparisonbetween‘Delirium’and‘SilverLinings’isappropriate.
Withinthisfilm,Thepsychiatristconveysasmartandauthoritativefigure
throughtheuseofbodylanguageandcostume. Asuitjacket,shirt,jumperAND
LINENTROUSERSAREWORNBYTHE psychiatrist.tHISISNOTTYPICALASMOST
psychiatristSARESEENWEARINGSUITSTHATCONVEYAVERYSMARTANDPROFESSIONAL
LOOK.HOWEVER,itmaintainsthesmarteffectonlywithalittlemoreofacasual
appearance.
Similarly,thisthemeisreflectedwithin‘HectorandtheSearchfor
Happiness’.Hector,thepsychiatrist,ispresentedwearingawoolcardigan,shirt,tie
andglasses.Althoughthisistooacasualversionofthetypicalprofessional
appearance,Iwouldlikeourpsychiatristin‘Delirium’tobemorecasualinorder
toemphasizethejuxtapositionofhimandtheaveragepsychiatrist..

3. Inordertoretrievetheeffectofacorruptpersona,We
havedecidedtodistortthetraditionalsmartand
professionallookintoamorecasualversion.
Bytransformingthissmartlookintoacasualone,we
arereflectingthepersonaofThepsychiatrist.Dueto
thelackofprofessionalismassociatedwiththis
character’scostume,Thepsychiatrist’sunrighteous
Behaviorissuggestedtotheaudiencebeforeany
corrupteventsbegin.
Althoughcertainelementsofthisoutfitportraya
smarteffect,Wehavelackedprofessionalismwitha
casualpairofconverseaswellasskinnyjeansin
ordertoeliminateanyassociationsregardingthe
psychiatristbeingtheauthoritativeandprofessional
figurewithinourteasertrailerthereforeimplyingto
theaudienceofhisdeceitfulpersona. Aswellasthis,
everygarmentisblackexceptforthewhiteshirt,which
ishiddenbytheblackjumper.Thisclearlyinsinuates
theevilandcorruptpersona ofthepsychiatrist..The
factthatthewhiteshirtishiddenbehindtheblack
jumperimpliesthatthepsychiatrist’spurityis
concealedbytheevil.

4. Adamfield,beinganeutral24yearoldmale,
willbeseenwearingarangeofplainandlogo
t-shirtsinordertoportrayayouthfuleffect.
Inordertoincreasethemysterywithinour
teasertrailer,wewantedtokeepAdam’s
appearancesimpleinordertoallowtheaudience
aslittleinsightaspossible.Restrictingthe
audiencefromunderstandingAdam’s
personalityandlifestylewillkeeptheaudience
guessing,thereforeincreasingthethrill.
Arangeofshirtsareneededduetothefactthat
weareplanningtocompleteatime-Lapseofstill
imagesinordertoreflectAdamtakinghis
prescribedpillseveryday.Theuseofdifferent
shirts,weinsinuatetotheaudienceofthe
changeindate.Bybreakingcontinuityinorder
tocreateatime-lapseitreflectsasenseof
distortionwhichwillreflectthenegative
changeinAdam’spersonalityashecontinuesto
takehisprescribedpills.

Arangeofpropsareneededinordertocreateasenseof
realismwithinourteasertrailer.
InordertoidentifyLouisasthepsychiatrist,afewpropsare
essential.Wehavedecidedtobringinitemssuchasreading
glasses,anotepad,apen,aclipboardandaframedpictureofa
dogduetothefactthattheseitemswillhelptheaudience
establishthefactthatLouisisthepsychiatristaswellasthe
factthatbothhimandAdamaresituatedinhisofficethrough
theuseapersonalitem.
Inadditiontothis,wewillpositionabookshelf betweenthe
psychiatristandAdam.Throughtheuseofthiscentral
positioning,aslighthintwillbemadetotheaudienceofthe
psychologicalthemessoontobeportrayedwithintheteaser
trailerthatholdthepsychiatristandAdamtogether
throughouttheplotofthefilm.Thisisfurtheremphasisedby
thespecificallychosenbookssituatedonthisbookshelf.In
ordertocreatenuancesregardingthedeceitfulbehaviorfrom
thepsychiatristaswellastheupcomingthemes,arangeof
psychologicalbooksorthoseregardingdeathbecauseoflies
