Objective
I am passionate about helping adults living with a mental health diagnosis or recovering from
substance abuse so they can remain independent with good quality of life. I am dedicated to helping
people discover new life skills and resources, which help them create a future that is meaningful.
Core Competencies
Aging and Disability Counselor – Meet clients one-on-one or in a family setting to assess current
needs and concerns. Empower clients to connect with services they need and understand their options
along the way. Together with clients, break down complex situations into manageable parts and tackle
one piece at a time. Provide an unbiased listening ear and spend time understanding the client’s
feelings. Create action plans for the future they feel will work best for them.
Care Coordinator – Manage caseload of 25-30 clients at any given time. These clients were elderly,
disabled (mentally or physically) or were primary caregivers of such. Help setup in-home services,
caregiver respite, applying for benefits and preparing for the future. Provide unlimited opportunities
for clients to talk about their struggles, concerns and goals. Serve as key point of contact for many
clients to help them identify and connect with community resources.
Professional and Empathetic Communication Skills – Communicate and work with staff at all
levels at SeniorsPlus as well as key contacts at the State of Maine DHHS Office of Aging and
Disability Services. Mentor and lead trainer for new staff and student interns from University of New
England, Central Maine Community College and University of Maine. Collaborate with community
partners to strengthen the resources and services available to our mutual clients.
Public Speaking – Create and teach lunch ‘n learn sessions for University of Southern Maine and
Bates College staff around family caregiving and navigating the long term care system in Maine.
Create and record documentation webinar for statewide use in maintaining a consistent method for
capturing our social work in Harmony SAMS database. Create PowerPoint presentation highlighting
SeniorsPlus services and programs and facilitate group education in the community. Create and teach
workshop for senior companions regarding ethics, boundaries and self-disclosure.
Program --- Design, Implementation, Management, Reporting and Assessment – Successfully
implement approximately 15 grants. (i.e., breaking down each grant’s requirements, designing a way
to blend these new objectives in with our core services, assigning staff time to reach these goals and
keeping a pulse on progress made through detailed reporting and regular team meetings). Create
reports to provide an efficient and accurate picture of the effectiveness of our work. Projects which I
independently handled or was an integral part of include:
 Caregiver Respite Programs
 Savvy Caregiver evidence-based workshops
 Beta test of The State of Maine web portal for electronic applications for public services and
providing feedback for improved navigation and functionality.
