August 16, 2013 - September 18 marks the start of México Food Fair, an unprecendented meeting ground for
buyers, sellers, and consumers to share in the gastronomic and cultural wealth that Mexico has to offer. Not
only will this be a marketplace for all food Mexican, but also an exposition by the internationally renowned
chefs, Patricia Jinich and Aquiles Chavez.
Born and raised in Mexico City, Patricia Jinich, teacher, writer, and host of PBS’s Pati’s Mexican Table, is the
official chef of the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington DC. As part of the México Food Fair, Jinich will be
sharing her expertise and love of the Mexican culinary arts through various classes and conferences. As Jinich
has remarked, “The kitchen of our land is special, not only because it is a reflection of the Mexican spirit, but
because it is an integral part of our history, of our character as a people.”
Also on display will be gastronomist Aquiles Chavez. Often cited as “One of the best chefs in Mexico,” Chavez
brings a plethora of energy and creativity to the table. When not in his native Tabasco, Chavez tours the world,
emparting his zeal for Mexican cuisine to students and foodies alike. His cooking show El Toque de Aquiles
currently airs on FOX.
