Kasey Norris
My name is Kasey Norris. I feel as though my teaching experience and success
in the classroom, in addition to a Master’s Degree in Education, has provided me with the
tools necessary to thrive in the environment that public schools exemplify.
I am currently employed at Anderson Christian School, where I teach fifth
grade. I began my teaching career at ACS upon completing graduate school at Anderson
University in November 2013. I began as a fourth grade teacher and moved up to teach
fifth grade for the last two years. While being at ACS has been very rewarding, even
receiving Teacher of the Year for the 2014-2015 school year, I am ready to move into a
more challenging position within the public school system.
My background being in child development, I understand how the brain works
and how intrinsic and extrinsic factors affect student learning. I have a very positive
classroom management plan that does not single out one group of students. I recognize that
children who love and respect you will learn so much more than children who only see you
as a dictator. Teaching to every learning style through direct and indirect instruction, my
students know that I will do what it takes to help them succeed. I would describe my
teaching style as energetic, fun, hands-on, project-based, authentic, and enthusiastic.
I am constantly looking to grow as an educator. I strive to stay current with the
newest technologies, programs, and strategies. I have experience with 1:1 iPads with
students and have researched and used dozens of the most effective apps. I am proficient in
Microsoft Office, Promethean, Mimeo, Google, and SMART Board technologies. Seeing my
students soar is extremely rewarding. My students competed in national math competitions
finishing 3rd and 4th in the nation the last two years. Currently, I have five students who
made it to state in the Battle of the Books competition and will compete again in April. I
enjoy making meaningful learning experiences through flipping the classroom, making
videos, and collaborating with other schools through online learning communities.
I am a high-energy educator who has a passion for teaching. I recognize that
all students learn differently and know how to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of
every child. My goal is to instill in each child knowledge, values, and a love for learning.
When students leave my class, I want them to know they are loved, they are intelligent, they
can do anything they set their mind to do, and that Mrs. Norris is their number one fan.

Mrs. Norris is the true definition
of a teacher. She didn’t just
