This letter is intended to verify the hours for Karin Muggli who was a participant in the COPE
Health Scholars Program from April 2015 to July 2016
The Health Scholars Program is designed to provide pre-health professionals an opportunity to
interact directly with patients and work alongside the interdisciplinary patient care team on
hospital units. Health Scholars commit to at least one 4-hour shift per week for a minimum of
280 hours required for program completion.
Karin has rotated through the Gynecology/ Surgical Unit on 11 SW (52.25 hours), Neuro
Epilepsy Unit on 5 East (44 hours), General Medicine Unit on 9 SW (50 hours), Labor & Delivery
/ Antepartum Unit (50.5 hours), Neonatal ICU (53.75 hours), and the Lobby Ambassador Project
(22 hours) at Swedish Medical Center – First Hill & Cherry Hill Campuses in Seattle, WA.
Participant duties include, but are not limited to, bathing and feeding patients, answering call
lights, preparing patient rooms, escorting patients at discharge and providing comfort care
services to patients and their families – all duties are targeted to add value to the patient
experience.
As of July 2016, Karin Muggli completed a total of 322 participant hours.
