Q I am 5’2” and I often opt for
comfort over fashion. I love wearing
cargo pants, but end up looking
like a boy or sloppy. What should I
choose to look feminine?
GG: Cargo pants do have a bad
reputation and are extremely tricky to
wear. You can pair them with flowing
chiffon or jersey tops with a fitted waist
line. Try them with rich gabardine and
stretch denims. Since you are petite,
choose fitted, structured forms and
silhouettes, rather than loose cuts. For
a sexier and edgier look pair with a
camisole. Sneakers look too tom-boyish
and are bulky for your feet, so instead
wear wedges or killer stilettos to make
the look ultra feminine.
Try not to choose the most obvious
and boring colours like beige and
khaki. Pick formal colours like black,
grey or white. To balance your petite
frame don’t go for trousers that are loose
around the leg, Instead choose a jodhpuri
style of fit. Play up with funky, feminine
belts in cloth and leather to complete
