Kolkata is the capital of West Bengal, located on the banks of Hooghly river. It is dotted with colonial monuments, historical educational institutions, contemporary architecture and sprawling gardens.
A ride from the famous Chowringee marketplace to Victoria Memorial makes it evident that Kolkata is a beautiful blend of British and Bengali architecture. There is something enchanting about this city that continues to spawn generations of poets, film producers, writers and Nobel Prize winners.

3. OF INTELLECT AND CULTURE
DAILY FESTIVAL OF
HUMAN EXISTENCE
India’s second-biggest city is simultaneously noble
and squalid, cultured and desperate. By its old
spelling, Calcutta, conjures up images of human
suffering to most Westerners. But locally, it is
regarded as India’s intellectual and cultural capital.
Friendlier than India’s other metropolises, this is a
city you ‘feel’ more than simply visit.

“Great Dame of Calcutta”. Located in the prime business district of the city, it is opulence
at its best. With the oldest parts of the hotel dating back to the 1880s, it was the pride of
Calcutta, the then colonial India’s capital, having hosted most visiting dignitaries. It boasts
of the city’s largest pillarless Grand Ballroom, a 200 year old handmade piano and a grand
chandelier in its lobby.
Oberoi Grand’s rooms and suites are beautifully designed, tastefully furnished and
upholstered, and retains the stately colonial corridors. The restaurants La Terrasse and Baan
