3. In the double page spread the main artist uses colloquial terms such as ‘’totally radical’’ in which teenagers can identify with and understand. It illuminates her youth and appeals to a slightly more immature audience, in effect representing a teenage social group, in comparison to the use of standard English in which would more reflect an older, sophisticated audience.
4. The main artist subverts the convention of the typical ‘cover-girl’ image. Usually the artist on the front cover wears excessive make-up and bright flashy clothes and sometimes may adopt somewhat of a flirty pose.
5. The poses of the band indicates quite a rebellious sense, ultimately, suggesting that they have an attitude, which is a stereotypical view of teenagers.
6. The guitar is not a common prop used in pop magazine, and so I wanted to subvert this idea in order to represent teenagers of today as talented in a range of areas.
7. I have used ‘One Stroke Script’ & Pump Demi Bold LET which are fairly simplistic fonts considering the eccentric, flamboyant culture of pop, so it does not represent teenage readers as simple-minded and easily pleased by fancy fonts.
8. As many may perceive teenagers as all about standing out, being flashy and quite idle, however, I have subverted this idea within the interview by stating that the artist ‘’wrote most of them myself too. There’s also a couple of acoustic songs on there too, no gimmicks or anything, just my voice and my beloved guitar’’, ultimately, showing that she has pure talent and her songs don’t need to be fancy in order to have appeal.
