The Pikes Peak Association for Gifted Students (PPAGS) presents a
showing and discussion of:
The Misdiagnosis of Gifted Children
(video by SENG)
In an informative and captivating video, SENG highlights the plight of gifted children who are
misdiagnosed with disorders such as ADHD or Asperger's Syndrome. Misdiagnosis of gifted
children is a widespread problem, but still largely unknown to healthcare professionals, educators,
and parents. To protect our children from inappropriate diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment, and to
promote their social and intellectual development, we must educate people about the potential for
misinterpreting characteristics of giftedness as symptoms of pathology.
(To learn more, listen to James T. Webb, Ph.D., author, founder of SENG, discuss the common
characteristics, challenges, and myths of gifted children. His presentation is an excellent overview
of the topic of giftedness for novices and experts alike. (57 min.)

meeting, we will seek volunteers for PPAGS officer positions and
