1. Gifted and Talented Independent Study Project<br />The GT Independent Study Project (ISP) is an interest based learning activity. The ISP caters to each student’s talents, interests, and learning abilities. It provides students with an individualized learning experience and gives them the time and resources needed to research something that they are passionate about. The culminating event will be an ISP Showcase (held in the school library) where the public will be invited to enjoy the amazing talents and in-depth research on display. Although some class time will be allowed for work on ISPs, students are expected to complete much of the project on their own time. <br />Rubric: Below is the grading rubric for ISP projects. The project lacks a clear interactive element. Overall ImpressionThe project is eye appealing, inviting, professional in appearance, and displays the student’s talents. The project gives an overall impression that it has been constructed with care and thought. The project leaves one with the impression that something is missing, out of place, or not fully developed. The project is flat and lacks care or imagination. <br />Point Scale:<br />16-14= A<br />13-10=B<br />9-6=C<br />5= D<br />4-1=F<br />Note taking: Research for ISPs will take the form of traditional note taking on note cards. The note card requirements are: <br />6th Grade: 30 note cards <br />7th Grade: 35 note cards <br />8th Grade: 40 note cards <br />These numbers can change at the teacher’s discretion based on available time, computer lab use, etc. <br />
