1. Menu of Goals for ALP (Area of Strength Goals)
Language Arts Based Goals
(Name) will score advanced on the reading portion of the 2013 TCAP or 95% + percentile on Spring Reading MAPS
(Name) will score advanced on the writing portion of the 2013 TCAP or 95%+ percentile on Spring Language MAPS
(Name) will score above a %90 on two extended writing pieces determined by the Russell extended writing rubric
(Name) will score 90% or higher on reading constructed responses determined by the Russell RACE writing rubric
(Name) will submit a writing piece (article, short story, editorial, poetry, etc) for publication.
(Name) will attend a public speaking event at least once during the year and analyze the speaker using a rubric to write a reflection
report on the speaker.

organizer, or diagram) that represents and illustrates the education required to obtain a job in the field and present the findings to
his/her class.

and experimentation on a topic of his/her choice at the advanced level on a performance task rubric. (Science Fair)

(Name) will explore a local historical museum to further research a notable person of the past. The student will then dress as that
character and give a speech as to the significance of that person on the development of the town at the advanced level on a
performance rubric.
2. (Name) will follow a self-written plan for an independent project in a chosen area of interest in social studies once per semester at
the advanced level on a performance task rubric. (History Day Project)
