7. DN2 Redundancy Arrangements
• Decentralization of connection information.
The cross connection is stored in the Interface Units (IU2)
• Duplication of 2M connections (1+1 redundancy).
A 2Mbit/s signal is brought to/sent from two different ports in the DN2
via two different transmission routes, the DN2 selects the better of
these.
• Duplication of equipment.
The bus and the cross-connection can be duplicated if the node size is
less than or equal 20 ports. Also the Bus Power Unit can be
duplicated.
• Conditional Connection Tables.
The DN2 can be defined to change connection tables on the basis of a
condition. This way it is possible to implement e.g.N+1 redundancy.
• Channel specific redundancy in a loop network.
n*8kbit/s channel protection using a pilot bit.
