Primary Investigator, An Ethnographic Assessment of Management Behavior and
Employee Stress in a Restaurant-Bar. Flagstaff, AZ. June 2012-May 2014.
Designed and conducted a mixed qualitative-quantitative ethnographic assessment on
the effect of manager behavior and interaction styles on creating, mitigating, or
eliminating low-level front-of-house employee stressful incidents and the association
with employee and organizational outcomes in a full-service restaurant bar. Developed
associative model with predictive power for strategies of manager behaviors and
interactions with low-level front-of-house employees to eliminate or reduce the stress
from stressful incidents leading to positive employee and organizational outcomes.

Nogales Revegetation Project, Directed Arizona side of the binational Asociación de
Reforestación en Ambos Nogales (ARAN) between Nogales, AZ and Nogales, Sonora;
conducted community outreach and education; prepared literature for publication and
dissemination; conducted primary and secondary research for various partner needs; co-
supervised and trained graduate and undergraduate interns and research assistants;
presented at local, regional, and international conferences.
Gulf Oil Project, Responsible for: transcribing and formatting interviews; creating
interview summaries; transferring analogue data to digital and CD; creating participant
audio bytes for presentations and web pages; creating photo albums of all donated

Southern Paiute Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Program, Data entry.
Southern Paiute Placename Study, Helped conduct interviews and focus groups with
Southern Paiute elders to record and document Southern Paiute place names for the
Arizona Strip. Conducted literature review of ethnographies and orthographies to
collect documented Southern Paiute place names for the interviews and focus groups.
Created tables for displaying Southern Paiute place name data for final report.
Biodiesel Conversion Feasibility Study, Designed and implemented feasibility study
on the biodiesel conversion of school bus fleets along the Arizona-Mexico border for
the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality; data analysis; conducted secondary
research on the socio-demographics of school districts and communities; community
outreach and education on alternative fuels and technologies; and prepared literature for
reports and dissemination; prepared draft report.

level user interface for: coding and analyzing pdf, text, audio, media, and image
documents; creating memos; creating document families; using code query tools;
transcribing with ATLAS.ti.; networking codes and quotations, and creating and
displaying descriptive and associative models using the conceptual interface.
Social Network Analysis Software Lab: UCINET.
Designed and conducted graduate lab on SNA theories, methods, and applications of
positionality and centrality measurements (Freeman’s degree; Freeman’s betweenness;
Geodesic distances; Flow betweenness) for health interventions, understanding and

Professional Research Experience Primary Investigator, An Ethnographic Assessment of Management Behavior and Employee Stress in a Restaurant-Bar. Flagstaff, AZ. June 2012-May 2014. Designed and conducted a mixed qualitative-quantitative ethnographic assessment on the effect of manager behavior and interaction styles on creating, mitigating, or eliminating low-level front-of-house employee stressful incidents and the association with employee and organizational outcomes in a full-service restaurant bar. Developed associative model with predictive power for strategies of manager behaviors and interactions with low-level front-of-house employees to eliminate or reduce the stress from stressful incidents leading to positive employee and organizational outcomes. Nogales Revegetation Project, Directed Arizona side of the binational Asociación de Reforestación en Ambos Nogales (ARAN) between Nogales, AZ and Nogales, Sonora; conducted community outreach and education; prepared literature for publication and dissemination; conducted primary and secondary research for various partner needs; co- supervised and trained graduate and undergraduate interns and research assistants; presented at local, regional, and international conferences. Gulf Oil Project, Responsible for: transcribing and formatting interviews; creating interview summaries; transferring analogue data to digital and CD; creating participant audio bytes for presentations and web pages; creating photo albums of all donated photographs; copying all consent forms and making digital copies of forms. Southern Paiute Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Program, Data entry. Southern Paiute Placename Study, Helped conduct interviews and focus groups with Southern Paiute elders to record and document Southern Paiute place names for the Arizona Strip. Conducted literature review of ethnographies and orthographies to collect documented Southern Paiute place names for the interviews and focus groups. Created tables for displaying Southern Paiute place name data for final report. Biodiesel Conversion Feasibility Study, Designed and implemented feasibility study on the biodiesel conversion of school bus fleets along the Arizona-Mexico border for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality; data analysis; conducted secondary research on the socio-demographics of school districts and communities; community outreach and education on alternative fuels and technologies; and prepared literature for reports and dissemination; prepared draft report. Designed and conducted graduate lab on using ATLAS.ti’s textual and conceptual level user interface for: coding and analyzing pdf, text, audio, media, and image documents; creating memos; creating document families; using code query tools; transcribing with ATLAS.ti.; networking codes and quotations, and creating and displaying descriptive and associative models using the conceptual interface. Social Network Analysis Software Lab: UCINET.
