Solar Car Li-Ion Battery Cooling Methods Research and Development: 10/2015-6/2016
• Senior Design project to develop a cooling system for the UC Davis Solar Car Team
• Reviewed published research papers on electric vehicle battery cooling methods
• Developed an enclosure that incorporated an optimum forced air cooling design while
providing neat and robust packaging with two other team mates
• Designs were verified using SolidWorks Flow Simulator, and Finite Element Analysis, as
well as additional heat transfer and structural analysis done by hand calculations
• Manufactured our designs using 3D printing, and water jet cutting
Gearbox Analysis, Design, and Construction: 1/2016-3/2016
• Designed, and built a gearbox to be operated by a 3W electric motor to pull incremental
loads up incremental inclines, with a team of 5 students for a mechanical design course.
• Design specifications were done using SolidWorks modeling, and Matlab for calculations
• Manufactured our gearbox using mills, lathes, and hand assembly
Small Personal Aircraft Landing Gear Load Analysis: 5/2015
• Performed a mathematical life cycle analysis of a Cessna 172 Skyhawk personal aircraft
using industry standards for maximum landing descent speed to determine fatigue failure
potential.
