Ana Stanicevic has lived in Iceland for almost three years and came here to learn Icelandic. In
the spring she finishes BA degree in Icelandic as a second language. She wrote this dispatch

Iceland.
This is the language that I use every day, although I am dark-haired and brown-eyed. I thought I
had finally become lighter-skinned here north of eternal darkness - vampire dream of all the
goth-kids - but I was told the other day I was so dark and beautiful. Maybe it's not so bad to be a
