Since we are now believers of Christ, and we are part and parcel of His Body, the Church through the virtue of our baptism. He also commissioned us to continue His works of salvation. Started by the Apostles so that many of us will enter heaven that was opened by Jesus himself. We must not ashamed and afraid in proclaiming the Good News because as what Jesus says “ I am with you always until the end of the age.” We may experience many persecutions in different ways and different situations but He will never leave us.

Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord

Gospel Reading:
St. Matthew 28: 16-20
W - I will be with you always, to the end of the age.
O - Be confident enough in proclaiming the Good News.
R - Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ into heaven
wherein He opened the gates of heaven for those who believe in Him. Likewise, nobody
goes to heaven if no one believes in Him. Thus, we should believe Him like his witnesses,
the Apostles, and His disciples during His time. This is why, those who witnessed His
glory, He commissioned them (Apostles) to proclaim the Good News to all nations so
that many will become believers of Christ Jesus and can enter Heaven. It was the
Apostles of Christ Jesus who became the first community of believers (Church) and made
us believers too. Since we are now believers of Christ, and we are part and parcel of His
Body, the Church through the virtue of our baptism. He also commissioned us to
continue His works of salvation. Started by the Apostles so that many of us will enter
heaven that was opened by Jesus himself. We must not ashamed and afraid in
proclaiming the Good News because as what Jesus says “ I am with you always until the
end of the age.” We may experience many persecutions in different ways and different
situations but He will never leave us. Persecutions are part of our experiences as we keep
on serving Him. By undergoing such sufferings we shared Christ's pain. We are one with
Him and He's one with us in all aspects of our life. I was enlightened by the Holy Spirit
upon making this WORD method and pondering the Gospel especially when this line
‘We must not ashamed and afraid in proclaiming the Good News’ it immediately comes
2. in my mind. Because, by nature, I am a shy person and it is very obvious and even seen
by my fellow brother seminarians. Whenever I am going to have a talk or lecture in
different communities, I felt ashamed and afraid to talk or to proclaim the Good News. I
always forgot what Jesus had promised that He is always there and He is in me during the
proclamation of His Name. I am not confident standing in front of many people even here
in the formation house. I'm afraid to be corrected of what I’m going to speak off. Just like
what happened last Friday when I was the Gospel sharer during our prayer meeting, I was
ashamed and afraid of by their correction. I didn't even want to listen to my own
recorded sharing on my brother's cellphone. It is all our challenge to be confident enough
to stand in front of many people just to proclaim the Good News without reservation and
hesitation. Amen.
D - As I will lead the Prayer Meeting this coming Friday I will try my best to speak
spontaneous prayer with all my heart.
