SUMMER CAMPS COMBAT NATURE DEFICIT DISORDER
FORT WORTH (Feb. 27, 2015) – The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge will
host Summer Natural History Adventures from June 8 to July 31 at its 3,621 acre
preserve. These nature day camps allow children to learn and explore the wild
outdoors safely without sacrificing fun.
“These adventures give kids a chance to learn about the environment in way
textbooks cannot,” Anne Hamman of the FWNC&R said.

2. Nature Summer Camps
The Summer Natural History Adventures invite elementary school children to
experience nature like they never have before. Beginning June 8, the adventures
run Monday through Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m. The grades and times of the
adventures are as follows:
Kindergarten – Mondays (8:30 - 11:30 a.m.)
First and Second Grades– Tuesdays and Fridays (8:30 a.m. -3 p.m.)
Third and Fourth Grades – Wednesdays (8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.)
Fifth and Sixth Grades – Thursdays (8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.)
The FWNC&R will also offer After Camp Daycare until 4:30 p.m., Tuesdays
through Fridays. Friends of the Nature Center (FONC) members receive
discounted admission. Registration fees for the Adventures are as follows:

3. Nature Summer Camps
About the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge:
Established in 1964, the FWNC&R is a hidden jewel located 10 miles from
downtown Fort Worth. It is one of the largest known nature centers in the nation.
It encompasses 3,261 acres of land including 20 miles of hiking trails, canoeing
opportunities, and the Hardwicke Interpretive Center, which is home to numerous
wildlife ambassadors. All three major ecosystems native to North Texas are
found within the FWNC&R boundaries. The FWNC&R is operated by the City of
Fort Worth Parks and Services Department. Additional funding is provided by
the Friends of the Nature Center, a nonprofit organization. For more information
