Nature Center Announces Summer Camp Adventure Program
FORT WORTH, Feb. 27, 2015 – The Fort Worth Nature Center &
Refuge announces the dates for, its one-day summer camps that will take
place June 8 – July 31,for kindergarten through sixth grades.
The camps provide activities for kids to explore the forests, prairies
and wetlands encompassed in the 3,600-acre Nature Center. Each adventure
is led by a staff naturalist who is trained to provide a fun experience. “Our
mission is to educate our community about the preservation and protection
of natural areas,” said Laura Wood, Executive Director of the Nature Center &
Refuge.

2. Summer Camp
Variety of Activities
Activities include exploring the refuge one trail at a time while
learning about habitats for both animals and plants, paddling canoes, hiking,
experiencing through nature games such as “Hide and Seek”, becoming insect
investigators, and learning navigation through natural signs such as the sun,
maps and compasses. Other planned activities include traditional camp
experiences such as kite building, bandana games, skipping rocks across the
river and tossing horseshoes.
Days and Times
- Kindergarten Adventures meet on Monday from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- Grades first and second meet on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Grades third and fourth meet on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30
p.m.
- Grades fifth and sixth meet on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
After-camp daycare is available till 4:30 p.m. for an additional charge.

3. Summer Camp
Pricing
Kindergarten programs for members are $15 per-class while non-members
are $20 per-class. Camps for students in first to sixth grades are $35 for
members and $40 for non-members. Discounted fees are available for
families registering two or more Adventures per child.
