2. Codes and conventions
Front cover:
Main cover image- This is typically of a famous person or of a featured furniture layout in the magazine which in the
magazine is described in further detailed with pricings and design ideas etc.
Masthead- This is the name of the magazine, the position of it is typically at the top and over the cover image however some
magazine covers incorporate the masthead into the cover image or place it below.
Strapline- This sums up the USP and the meaning behind the brand.
Pull-quote- A pull quote is a piece of text pulled from the magazine which is placed on the front cover to entice people to buy and
read the magazine.
Anchorage text- Anchorage text is used to explain the cover image.
Coverlines- These are on the cover to promote the stories that are in the magazine.
