II Petition –




Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has secured multiple adoptions of its
groundbreaking customized education solutions throughout Latin America. Houghton Mifflin
Harcourt Publishing Company wants to provide best-in-class texts, materials and tools for the
qualification and development of Ecuadorian citizens. Terry Nealon, International Publishers senior
vice president, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. stated that "Educators around the world have long turned
to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to provide the best research-based education materials, and that these
latest successes in Latin America has solidified its firm reputation as the most respected source of
innovative learning solutions worldwide."

III Written Document –
The document should be a maximum of 30 pages including the Appendix, double spaced, size 12. It
should contain the following sections:
I.     Executive Summary – One page summary of conclusions
   II.    Background
   III.   Methodology
                 A. Teacher preferences
                 B. Evaluation of instructional design
   IV.    Teacher preferences in EFL texts (data and interpretation of data)
   V.     Evaluation of Pearson vs Oxford (data and interpretation of data)
   VI.    Conclusions
   VII.   Appendix (May include publishing information, any raw data from interviews or surveys)

IV Oral Presentation –
The oral presentation should be a maximum of 30 minutes with each member of the group
presenting. Dress professionally and turn in the following Reflection to the panel before presenting.
It would also be a good idea to have samples of the texts being evaluated.

Reflection – Turn in one copy in a manila folder to the panel on Monday, June 26. Maximum, 3 pages. It
should contain the following: Names of group members, work distribution among members (functions
and responsibilities), schedule of activities carried out between dates 2010, evaluation of the group’s
strengths and weaknesses during the process: planning, organization, use of time and the writing of the
final document; and steps the group will take in future cases to improve.
