Various activities for a NW fieldtrip

Seaside To Cannon Beach
Velocity vs. Time
 As we travel down the coast pay attention to
the time it takes!
 Knowing it takes around 10 minutes to drive
from seaside to Cannon Beach, estimate how
far apart they are if one travels at 45mph half
of the way and 55mph the rest of the way.
 Show all your calculations.
Cannon Beach to Nehalem
Unit convertions
 Convert the following velocities into
m/s.
 45mph
 55mph
 70kmh
 90ft/s
 Now estimate the time it will take to
drive from Cannon Beach to Nehalem at
a constant speed of 55mph if they are
approximately 31km apart.
Nehalem to Tillamook Cheese Factory
Profit example
Suppose the equation 𝑓 𝑝 = −200𝑝2
+
92,000 − 8,400,000 models the total profit with
respect to cost.
Find the maximum profit from this equation
and also where the profit is zero.
Tillamook to Lincoln City
Acceleration
Now that we reached our destination, suppose that the bus
that is driving you back home is accelerating a constant
velocity of 20m/s. Make a graph of acceleration, velocity
and distance with respect to time. Furthermore, what will
the velocity of the bus be if the bus driver continues at this
rate for 30 seconds. Would you recomend he accelerates at
a faster or slower rate? Explain why you think this.
