In some parts of the world people are accustomed to spending a higher percentage of their income on food, but in America we suffer from sticker shock because of WalMart and other discount vendors. The reality is we pay for what we eat. Some are informed enough to know what that statement means. For those that don't I am not going to elaborate here there is plenty of information out there if you are looking.
