Suffix is a word part added to
the end of a base word.
A suffix changes the meaning
of a word.
3. THE NOUN FORMING SUFFIXES
The noun forming suffixes are –er , -ar, and –or.
Once they are added to the base word the word
becomes a noun, someone or something that
carries out an action.
4. EXAMPLES:
Base word Suffix Word formed Meaning
preach + -er preacher one who preaches
operate + -or operator
one who operates
something like
machine
register + -ar registrar
one who registers or
records
5. You change, add, or delete the last
letter of some words before adding
the suffix –ar or –or.
